Act/React 21 months ago

it was hard to stop myself and think before I let the words fly out my mouth. But worth it all in the end.

Action or Reaction ? 22 months ago

I cannot decide if this is an action, or a reaction.

If I decide to leave an organization because it’s not doing anything for me but leading to frustration, is my getting out before I totally hate it ACTING, or am I REACTING ?

Such a puzzlement.

Until You Ask, The Answer Is Always "No" 22 months ago

(perhaps “Rules Were Made To Be Broken” works here as well)

In life there are always rules. They have a purpose, they keep order, they prevent chaos, they embue efficiency, but sometimes breaking the rules need to be broken, or at least bent, to achieve success.

How many times have we spent time in a grocery line with a trolley full of food while the “10 Items or Less” line sits idle? Business owners encounter vendors with minimum purchase requirements, and homeowners encounter contractors with set provisions regarding time frames.

Ask. Ask for an allowance, a change, a break from the established guideline. You may get through that grocery line faster, you may strengthen your relationship with your supplier, you may get your home repairs done earlier than expected – you will never know unless you ask.

...for what we have left undone... 23 months ago

This is the part of Sunday morning that strikes me the most, the confession. In the Episcopal Church (Anglican) the confession (reconciliation) is said as a group in a manner not unlike the way in which Americans state the Pledge of Allegiance.

One portion of the confession is asking of forgiveness for what we have done, and for what we have left undone. This is one of hte most important parts of faith, and is really Good Citizenship 101. Sure, you may have not done anything bad, but what have you done? Simple things like holding a door open for someone, or allowing an elderly person to have “the good parking spot” – or larger things volunteering for a worthy cause.

There is so much we are capable of doing to change lives, but too often we wait until something happens to act. I know what I have left undone, do you?

In many ways this ties in quite well with the Law Of Attraction : instead of taking a ho-hum I’ll deal with whatever comes my way attitude, this goal embodies action, and being proactive.
