I coached my daughters Netball team when she was in Year 8 as no other parents wanted to be the Coach. I had never coached a netball team before and was learning along the way just like the girls were. We had lots of fun and at the end of the season, we had a parents against their daughters netball game. There was lots of cheating and fun had by all. It was a draw in the end though and everybody had a good time.
so, technically I have already done this. I coached part time for the Bainbridge Island Rowing Club near seattle over the summer, and it was amazing working with the high schoolers. my real goal is to be a head coach at either a junior club or collegiate team. I am a rower now at Cal, but my body unfortunately won’t be able to take this kind of intensity for many years after college, so the National team is kind of out of the question. but I love coaching, and I think that it would be a good way to give back to the sport and get girls, especially, excited about this level of competition.
I used to coach swimming, and really want to get into that again. I loved coaching summer league teams…as well as high school teams.
I want to coach a team, and am in the Training School right now, so I suppose it is only a matter of time before I actually get a first team job. Don’t know when I will actually start, because I am still playing football myself, and since our team made it to the Second Division this weekend, I suppose I’m not as lost in sports as it seemed :)
