Learning to study at age 33.

I’ve decided to dedicate the next couple of months to learning how to study. When I was growing up parents, teachers- everybody, kept saying, “Stephanie, you need to study more.” And over and over I kept trying to explain that I didn’t know how.
The conversations would go like this:
“Read it”
“I don’t get it”
“Then read it again”
“I still don’t get it”
Soon after this point I’d start pretending I understood things I didn’t because I was frustrated and embarrassed. But doing this caused me to get even more lost thus causing me to fall further and further behind.
I knew that I was doing something wrong- or should I say not doing something right. I knew the “smart” students knew something I didn’t; some techniques or something. This was confirmed at the age of 21 when I heard about “mnemonics” for the first time. I knew it! I knew there was a trick and I’m sure there are more.
Since I’m now an adult, I guess that means I’m now my own parent and my own teacher. Thank God for the Internet and libraries. Let the path to discover begin. And anyone who wants to come along for the ride or simply watch the show your welcome.
