I used to be a chronic agrophobic (I was so afriad of crowd that I would have full fledged panic attacks in school assemblies.) However I realized that my fear was affecting my social relationships and that I needed to do something about it.
I used the tactic of gradual immursion to get used to crowds. I surrounded myself with people whom I was comfortable around, and went to places like dance clubs, movie theaters, and even a national conference. By forcing myself into situations in which I would be in crowds I became desensitized to them.
I encourage everyone who shares this fear to step out of their comfort zone. For example, go to a concert with a group of friends, or volunteer to speak in public at a conference or in class. You don’t really have anything to lose. _
