an email complaint to the BBC to ask why football and Eurovision were allowed to screw up a Doctor Who broadcast

In the end, I actually called the complaints line and put my fanboy grievance to a very nice lady on the other end who sounded awfully posh and very, very BBC. I came away knowing she had me pegged as a skateboarding anti-social graffiti-doodling drop-out. I only wish I were that fun and interesting, but alas I am merely one of millions of people who tuned in last week only to find instead of Doctor Who we got… FOOTBALL! x 6 years ago

Doctor Who was rescheduled for the football, which went into extra time and pushed BBC1’s schedules out by an hour. So I found my PVR had recorded an hour of Thierry Henri grinning at cameras. I set it again to record the later BBC3 repeat of the show, and that was screwed by Eurovision’s behind-the-scenes coverage being extended. Grrr!!!!

I managed to watch it, just not keep copies of that and Doctor Who Confidential, which followed on and was also affected. Okay, so I will be getting the DVDs – not the current batch, but the boxset at Yule – but the BBC, in its infinite wisdom, has chosen not to release Doctor Who Confidential on DVD. At least, not for ages yet. So that broadcast, for a fan, was pretty essential.

Still, there’s always P2P I guess… eMule here I come… 6 years ago
