"My estranged uncle's wedding"

How I did it: I went to Portland, OR for the wedding of my estranged uncle (one of my Dad's only remaining immediate family members).  I hadn't seen, talked to or even heard from the man in thirteen years after he and my father had some kind of fight at my Grandfather's funeral.  In August of '06 he shows up at a family reunion.  It was amazing.  So...  He invites us all to his wedding.  My father, my mother and I went.  It was incredible!!  While I was there I got to go to a big Intergroup function.  My sponsor's sister lives out there.  It was pretty awesome.

    A business trip in the late '80s 20 months ago

    I was to present a paper on the susceptibility of microprocessors to cosmic ray upset. It was nerve wracking, but cool. I loved Portland. And the spreads that the defense contractors laid out for us were beyond an epicurean’s wildest imaginings. I’d be happy to go back again … and may get to if the Cub gets into Reed.

    Well, It’s time to put up or shut up. I just may take this trip very soon. Before school starts. I’m homeschooling my youngest son, going to college myself and my older son is taking a full load in college this year. August 27th will be the starting day of much stress. It’s time.

    I may be changing my destination in order to meet family in Seattle. It depends on the news I hear tomorrow. I will still consider this goal achieved because the point is to get on the plane. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

    My youngest son has dared me to complete this goal within the next two weeks or else he will be disappointed in me and consider me a coward. Actually the words he used were much more harsh. I’m being accused of lacking body parts I’m not even supposed to have. Hum! All right kid!

    Just get on the Plane 2 years ago

    I used to fly all the time. I was seriously ill for many years and I am now out of bed and back into life. Have been for almost 3 years. Doc says I can fly, I’m healthy enough. I have to step through the fear. Portland would be a short flight and I need to see my Aunt. I can do this.
