It took a pretty powerful song to help me understand that I was abused emotionally and still way being abused. So now I want to help, I am a nurse (LPN). I was in an abusive relationship that resulted in a pregnancy and now I have a beautiful son who is now 7, I broke up with his dad 3 weeks before I knew I was preggers, so I felt I needed to make it work, so I tried, it failed after 3 years. Now we are raising a son and he has since then had another son and married and divorced and I am now married, his marriage ended due to abuse as well. I really thought it was over for me the abuse that is, then I heard a song, Remember That, performed by Jessica Simpson and it hit me like a train I was still letting him control me and verbally abuse me, he used guilt to control me and when I put up a fight he verbally abused me and I would always feel weak and give in to it and I made the peace and I am saying NO MORE!!! I know I have been not been physically abused and probably not as severe as many women, I just feel so empowered to help all the women I can.
