How to clean out my car by justliveit

"It so refreshing to not have to freak out if someone asks for a ride because of the mess in the car!"

How I did it: I used to have the most cluttered car in the world. It was like an alternate storage space & a black hole of all lost things-with wheels. Unfortunately, said car was a piece of crap and I had to Lemon Law it. When it came time to turn it in to the dealer for refund it took me 2 entire days to clean it up!!!
It was Summer and the hear was unbearable, since that day I told myself that I'd never, ever keep a car cluttered again!
I got another car a few days after and I make an active effort (it's not easy) to take OUT of the car any and all things that I go into in with.
SOOO, no more spare pair of shoes, umbrellas, receipts, shopping bags, coffee mugs, water bottles etc.. Everything comes out of the car (when I get out of the car)
Now I always have a neat car when I have to go places, always have room to put groceries and shopping and I am never embarrassed or having to make excuses when people get in the car.

Resources: A couple of years ago I got a glove box organizer thing to keep a pen, paper, maintenance records, insurance and registration information, it also has a little flashlight and an all in one tool thingie.

So no more spilling disaster when opening the glove box. I recommend getting one.

    Well I did it… partially. So that does not count. ahhh… I HATE cleaning my car during fall or winter… it’s way too cold outside and I don’t have a garage. It sucks… but eventually I’ll do it.

    I've got a clean, tidy car! 2 months ago

    For the first time ever I have a clean car in which I can find stuff easily. Shopping bags, sunglasses, keys, sunscreen, exercise clothes & shoes, library books, doggie leashes & poop bags, and even a trash “can” (plastic cup) all have an assigned spot so they’re easy to find! This is the coolest thing ever.

    Now I can give a ride to someone when I need to, without feeling embarrassed and having to clear off the seat first. I no longer have to bring home plastic bags from the grocery store just because I forgot to bring a bag. No more frantic key searches, or stuff flying all over the car when I have to break suddenly. Awesome!

    Cleaning out the rest today 2 months ago

    Today’s the day to remove the rest of the stuff that really shouldn’t be in my car. It’s unbelievable how stuff accumulates.

    Later this afternoon I’m taking my car in to get detailed. It’s expensive but this is my reward for getting the job done!

    Goodness, how we bury ourselves in clutter.
