Paul Bunyan Bluegrass Festival in Bangor Maine 2 years ago

Second year going, same as last year, parked myself on the hill, but I sure danced a lot more :)

Definitely worth doing! I just came back from Harrietville Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Festival in Victoria, Australia. Got to do a set up on the main stage in their marquee! Great festival, fun people, loads of pickin’ sessions, and late nights that saw me walking back to my hotel room as the sun was coming up. 3 days, 4 hours sleep total, more food & booze than I can remember (lol), and one of my favourite genres of music; mean I will definitely be back. And in the meantime? Looking for more festivals and going to all of them. I may even totally cross over from Country/Pop-Rock & just make Bluegrass records from now on, that’s how much fun I’m having!

Check out Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC. It’s at the end of April every year. Lots of stages with great music!

I went to one alone this summer... 4 years ago

a major milestone for me, to go by myself. I was very nervous, but I parked my car, got out my blanket, and planted myself behind 3 men drinking beer. The sun was bright, and the music was wonderful. I only stayed three hours, and I would’ve camped out there had I not had to work. Go me! for going by myself, and even dancing when I felt the urge. It’s music, I swear, that is helping me love myself.

Rocky Mt bluegrass 4 years ago

festival. I volunteered there about 5 years ago. I got to be the checker for hidden alcohol- which if you put on a smile is not too bad. Also got to meet DOc Watson, and several others. Great time camping out in Colorado with friends.

Now I can’t speak for them all but the ones I have been to are completely worth going to… Even more so if you know or are learning a bluegrass instrument and are able to participate in jamming. Have a little repetior ready to play and knowledge of the basics and you’ll learn the rest.
