Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

ButterscotchIt's over

Three days of sheer exhaustion from just sitting at a table writing or bubbling circles. It is amazing how tiring it is.
I am very glad I studied. I won’t know until October what the results are, but I’m glad I don’t have to study every minute any more! yeah!! 7 years ago

ButterscotchRain

It rained today.
I was in my house and I thought I heard pitter patter on the roof. I went outside on the patio and drops were lightly falling around me.
It was the first time I have seen rain since our drive out here at the beginning of May.

The bar exam starts tomorrow. I just want to be done and be lazy in the rain. 7 years ago

Only 4 more study days and then the exam. I CAN’T WAIT!
Just kidding.

I can’t wait for my life back, is more like it.

Update:

I have a job interview for the week after the exam. I am so excited! I get to buy a new suit and get my hair done too.

Also my reserves recruiter (and application, possibly) seems to have arisen from the dead. We shall see if that progresses. I just don’t want to get my hopes up. It has taken so long already I have already given up on it, and to rekindle my flame and then to put it out again will just be highly irritating.

Still no tenant for my townhouse, annoying, but I am having it appraised and then I may think about selling it.

My nephew has to have another heart surgery at the end of August. This will be his third one and he is barely 1 1/2 years old.

My sister and my father are both trying to quit smoking, and my brother has a newfound passion for listening to opera. My other sister and her girlfriend bought tickets to come visit me for Thanksgiving. My boyfriend’s kids are coming out for 10 days in a few weeks.

It has been ridiculously hot here, but about 10 degrees cooler than the week of the 4th of July. Right now it’s only 106 F!

mmm other than that I can’t think of anything else newsworthy. 7 years ago

Today I did a lot. I did 100 multiple choice questions, two essays, and read 40 pages.
I can’t wait to be done this so I can use my time however I want to! 7 years ago

Studying really really sucks. Therefore, I am procrastinating as usual.

Susie is visiting me. She is spending the weekend drunk off her arse while I attempt to study.

Today I read in the news some wacko shot some people in a casino downtown. For the love of God. People are stupid.

For the Fourth we went to Mandalay Bay casino “beach.” It is a giant wave pool with sand all around it. It kicks arse. They had a Pat Benatar concert that we went to for free, because Cris got tickets from the Air Force for free (OOHRAH) and then they had fireworks. Susie bought us some Coronas and we sat around on the fake beach lovin’ it. Pat Benatar was wearing some weird mu-mu lookin’ outfit. Not quite sure what is up with that. Even though she’s gotta be, what, late 40s by now, she should still dress like a hot chick. I mean, she’s a ROCK star, and stuff.

Did I mention it is hot as hell here? Yesterday it was 111 Degrees F. Ya know when people say, “oh, but it’s a DRY HEAT,” like that’s supposed to mean it only feels nice and comfortable outside? Well, I’m here to tell you that’s a bunch of BULL$hit. My steering wheel was so hot I could not touch it. Thankfully (yes, bizarrely) I had cotton winter gloves in my car so I wore them so I could drive without getting third degree burns. Also I need to put a potholder on my front porch because the door handle is metal and you can’t touch it in the afternoon. I am NOT KIDDING.

Aaaah, I remember being stationed in Alaska…. sigh…. 7 years ago
