Quitting binge eating is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done! Every time I’m bored I turn to food and once I start eating I can’t stop! I can’t even have a cigarette now when I feel like eating out of boredom. I just don’t know what to do. I don’t want to give up on this goal..

Binge Eating while Drinking 23 months ago

A suggestion for those that binge while drinking! I used to be a huge offender. Fortunately for me and those around me, I don’t drink anymore, but from a health stand point, if you’re going to binge, try choosing foods that are high in carbohydrates and low in fat. High carbohydrates while drinking actually aid in the metabolism of alcohol. This with the combination of limiting your fat intake will decrease your chances of developing liver problems. One thing to remember is that addiction is addiction. Both alcohol and food feed the same pleasure centers in the brain, so it’s common to see that people who struggle with one, often struggle with the other. We all know that binge eating is a problem, but if you’re going to do it, especially when your inhibitions are suffering, reach for the pasta or pizza that is easy on the cheese. You’re body will thank you.

Binge Eating Health Tip: I personally found that old fashioned oatmeal is a great option because it’s much more satiating (filling) than the instant brands (and cheaper…but without the cream ; ) That packs on unnecessary fat right there. Soy milk is naturally creamy, so adding low-fat or fat-free soy milk is a much better option.
