Pre Birthday bash @ The ACC >>>(RUSSELL PETERS LIVE!) 1 year ago

For my Birthday this year, One Of my cousins gifted me 4 tickets to the sold out Russell Peters homecoming show jun 19th

    Any Peters fans here???

This Local stand up comic has been entertaining Canadians for years and his quick wit and dedication to his art have helped him move up in this business..

I have been a fan for a while now as I remember his club acts from way back in the days in Waterloo and Ottawa..Also his classic comedy central specials. The last couple of years have been big for Russell as he has elevated himself into an international sensation. Performing sold out shows form Australia to Vancouver. Earlier in 2007 he toured his native India for the first time and by special request even made an appearance on board a US Aircraft carrier to give a show for the active troops in middle of the ocean...( Hey, If Canada haaaad a Carrier, I’m sure he would have performed for our troops as well ;P )

    ....

So as you can imagine, I was ecstatic. We were going to experience his material in person along with 15,000 other fans(actually 30,000 as a second show was added as the first sold out within days)

The passion and utter excitement was overflowing from his face. That motivated look driving him “on” yesterday was the same “look” I remember from the first time I caught his act almost 10 years ago as he gave it his all to please the crowd. And what a lively crowd it was. One would expect the performer to get a little nervous performing in front of thousands but RP didn’t even break a sweat. A cool customer all night as he excelled by bringing his A game and simply being hilarious

It has been a joy to see his observational brand of humor evolve over the years. Last nights run had mostly new material and a blend of recent observations (from his world tour) with a touch of classic material from the past. He was at his cocky, casual best and as always ‘an equal opportunity offender’ whilst interacting with the front row crowd. It was a blast to hear his wide array of ethnic voice impersonations too..He flat out delivered. Pure comedic genius!

Going into the performance, I was hoping to see one of his older skits in particular(This bit was a personal fav) but with all the new writing he poured out…that sketch never came to be. His routine came to an end… An overjoyed full house gave him a standing ovation that was due. Part of me was taking in “the moment” as I knew I had witnessed something special here tonight BUT a tiny part of me was just a wee bit disappointed that I did not get to see my fav skit(Quite selfish of me, considering how I was lucky just to be here tonight)

The cheers cooled of slightly as some people started making their way to the exits.. R P came back on stage to take a bow and do a 5 minute encore…He started out by saying that he usually writes an extra sketch or 2 for the encore but on this night he did not, so he will improvise for us.. :) Could there be hope still?!? he introduced his next joke as one that he stopped using over a decade ago due to serious death threats.. That was a real clever bit but it was not the ONE. Just as we were getting ready to depart he dissed the leafs and Sens and then…....He introduced his final piece as one he had “retired” to the archives and is only bringing out today for the ‘Home Crowd’...YES YES YES!!!

“Somebody gonna get a hurt real bad!”

W O W a perfect conclusion to an absolutely amazing night!

    ....

Thanks to the distribution of his comedy clips over the net these last few years and the word of mouth buzz that followed, his career has really boomed and only now is he truly starting to take full advantage of his fame. He has dabbed around in Hollywood and will have bigger roles in his coming projects as well as an upcoming TV sitcom.

The man is right up there in the comedy world yet remains as humble as ever. This impressed me the most about him that evening. At the nights conclusion He came out to thank the audience as it was announced that R P is the only Comic ever to achieve complete sellouts on back to back nights at the ACC..His parting thoughts “I have not sold the tickets..thanks to YOU, the audience for YOU have sold out the ACC” Can you believe that folks!

    .

Two hours of hysterical laughter(my jaw hurts today!!) and non stop LOL-ing(my stomach still aches!!)

    I AM SERIOUS!!

I don’t think I have ever experienced a finer live act in person…ever

It was that much fun :D

Pure delight from start to finish with 0 fillers

Peters’s stuff is not for those who are easily offended so be forewarned

His previous CD/DVD Outsourced is GOLD

Cant wait to see his next DVD.. Chances are that it will consist of material from last nights epic show…( who knows, you may even get a glimpse of yours truly Rolling On The Floor With Laughter in the side bowl ;D )
