I really think one of the keys to happiness is finding pleasure in the small things. This morning I was quite tuned in to that.
- Slept in later than usual because my schedule allowed it
- Snuggled up to my husband in the extra half hour
- Nice shower gel & hot water
- Coffee, our great espresso machine is back in action!
- Luscious face cream
- Good fitting jeans
- New black sweaters
- A big warm winter coat
- Brisk walk around town for an hour
- Going to the post office and finding them friendly, helpful & not at all crowded!
- Listening to audiobooks
- Reading the newspaper on paper (not the net like usual)
- The really excellent green tea

...since I took it as a vacation day to make a long weekend, and we were at the summer house.
- slept in late – woke up well rested, the way you do on your third day of sleeping in
- read in the hammock
- drank a really excellent oolong tea
- played ping pong with my husband and stepson
- walked around the property on a short walk but one that was good for the spirit (and the environment, as we picked up trash people had left behind)
- read 130 pages of a book
- on the train home, enjoyed a beautiful sunset with vivid red clouds
- watched a silly chick flick on the train home
- read my nephew his bedtime stories
- talked with my sister
- drank a nice herbal tea before bed

I had good tea this morning
I walked to an errand and went out of my way to walk in patches of sunlight
The organic co-op had organic cream in stock again… yum!
I’m making Mexican for dinner
I did a few things on my to-do list that I’ve been dreading, and they weren’t as bad as I’d feared
I finally decided to throw out some fancy expensive green tea that I just don’t like instead of choking it down as I’d been doing
Cranked up the heater in my office so it was nice & toasty warm
Opened a wonderful new hand cream from Provence

I had a day of back-to-back medical appointments interspersed with various other errands that kept me running around from 8am until 4 and taking 12 subway rides.
I wrote out a schedule of what I had to get done at each place & got it all done.
What did I enjoy?
Being organized and handling it all
Reading almost 200 pages of a new book I brought with me this morning
Having brought green tea from home to enjoy
Listening to some podcasts while walking around
Getting to walk around Paris for a few hours – there are worse places to run errands
Following all the rules of French politeness so that everyone was nice to me
Stopping for an Evian mid afternoon when I needed a break
The efficiency of the metro system in Paris
Advancing things today for several goals, most importantly for the IVF (and things are looking good)

- going to the market and having French vendors smile because they know me. Finding good eggs and cheese and meat and organic fruit & veggies.
