How to win a ribbon at the state fair
It made me
surprised
 "I signed up for a whole bunch of different categories and ended up winning on my worst piece."
How I did it: One day I decided to look up the arts and crafts section of our state fair and there turned out to be hundreds and hundreds of different categories. I signed up for 5 and began working on my pieces. When the delivery day finally came, I was missing a piece for the fiber arts category. I grabbed this uglyish sort of patchwork with orange leaves on it and turned it in. Somehow I won a ribbon and a cash prize for it! Lessons & tips: Just work as hard as you can and sign up for a variety of different categories. The more entries you have, the greater chance you have of winning. Resources: none |

How I did it: I registered online in May and then I got my stuff ready. It took a lot of work mounting the photos and all that. I then took a few days off work so I could drop my stuff off, get the cookies ready to be judged, that sort of thing. A lot of preparation went into it. Read how I did it…

We went to the fair last night and I won a ribbon on my photograph!! It’s ‘Honorable Mention’ and that’s a win in my book. If you look in the photo, it’s the picture of a stream with the purple ribbon on it. Look closely :)

The state fair starts next week and I can’t wait. I have a couple days off to get ready for it. I have to mount my photographs and make my cookies. I hope I win with something :)

June 1st is the deadline for online registration so I’ve decided to submit a few photos, my snicker doodles and my Disney scrapbook. That way, I’ll have a few entries in different categories and more chances to win. Wish me luck :)

I’ve printed the forms and I’m looking over everything in order to decide which categories I’m entering. It looks like a lot of work. Next step is registering.

Registration starts on April 1st. I think I am going to enter a few photos and something in the culinary category. I want to have a good chance of winning so I am going to only enter my best and the categories that aren’t too popular. I make VERY good breads but that is always a very popular one so I’m going enter something more unique and fun. Wish me luck!!

I was perusing the Delaware State Fair Website today and I found all the information one needs in order to enter the competitions. Now, all I have to do is wait until April so I can enter online and then perfect my entry! Wish me luck ;)
Well… I entered and made four kinds of cookies… none of them won… not even an honorable mention… the baking compitition is rather stiff apparently… however I am not going to give up, I will try again next year… maybe enter some photography as well… I figure the more I enter the better my chances… we’ll see…

I ended up having one of my worst days ever today. But I did manage to write my info on a notebook at the fair so that someone can contact me as to how to enter my work. Don’t worry, it was a designated fair notebook, not just a blank one set out on a table.
