I officially am a gardener… sort of. I bought a watering can today, along with some organic fertilizer, potting soil and pots to transplant the baby herbs I picked up from Whole Foods. Can’t wait to get started tomorrow.
How to grow plants
How I did it: I just did, I got soil from a store and some seeds I just randomly grabed some, I think the point is to grow SOMETHING, it really shouldn't mater what.
And I put it all in a pot and watered, my family says I have a natrual green thumb. I don't think so it's really easy to grow stuff anyone can do it!
Lessons & tips: Talk to the plant(I do it cause I talk out loud to myself anyways) Give it a name so you don't starve it(you remember things if you give them more of a presence)
Resources: nurishing soil! and Don't look when you pick seeds that way it's a surprize when then plant grows.
One time I got one that ended up having pretty little blue flowers!

I’m giving up on the peace lily, I think. It should be impossible to kill, but I’m doing a good job making it pretty miserable. All of the leaves are brown and ishy, and I don’t have a spot for it as I’m clearing other things out. BUT, my philodendron is really happy,a nd while my jade doesn’t seem to be growing, it doesn’t seem to be dying either. My spider plant is just ecstatic to be alive, and I’m ecstatic that it is alive, which works out.

I can’t tell if my jade is growing or not.
The philodendron is so pretty, I may need to put it in an actual pot instead of in a tequila bottle.
The peace lily looks sad. Just sort of brown and stuff. Maybe I just need to trim back all the old leaves and let new pretty leaves come up.
And if I get a window at work (there’s a slight chance…) I could move them to work and really care for them instead of having to stash them places in the house where the cats can’t reach them.

I wonder if I shouldn’t slice of all the stems and just let new ones come up from the bottom…
My spider plant is rejuvenated.
The philodendron is doing ok.
I think the plant food spikes helped. I’m going to put that on my checklist so I remember to feed them again.

apparently it likes the plant food spike. I wish my love was enough…

my mom’s is just SO PRETTY, I can’t resist. so I cut off a few springs today and she gave me a cute little pot….I’ll give it a plant food spike tonight and see if I can keep it happy at the office.
I also decided that I’m going to trim off the bad leaves in the tequila bottle phildendron and peace lily, because the plant just puts energy into healing those, right?

So what I THOUGHT was a new jade sprout was actually a weed. I learned this as it grew into something not jade, even though the little sprout looked like jade.
So tonight I think, hey, I’ll just pull the weed out of there, toss my now dead jade, and put the spider plant which needs more room in there.
Turns out the jade had roots! now I probably killed it by yanking it out of the dirt. Hopefully not, though…he hasn’t really grown, but he was just a sprig when I first put him in there…so something certainly happened.
So…I moved the jade to a small pot I have. I put the spider plant in the jade pot (which is bigger than where the spider plant was living). Hopefully the spider plant will revive itself.
I watered the peace lily, which was embarrassingly dry. You’d think the peace lily would be good for me, because they are impossible to kill, but it’s actually horrible for me, because it stays alive even when I neglect it and thus reinforces my horrible plant caretaker habits.
The philodendron in tequila bottle is doing ok. Some of the ends got all black and crinkled up (no idea why…does it really need to be in dirt?)
All of this replanting was inspired today when I bought miracle-gro house plant spikes at the grocery store today. They were on clearance (and hard as a rock, I discovered, when I opened the package). But I gave spikes to the spider and the lily. I may bring the jade the work…I did look for a pot for the philodendron today and did not find one I liked.
Hang in there plants…I’m not trying to kill you on purpose…
So this goal is not yet dead…

it was SO happy and then it just started to look sad and droopy and I had to cut some dying legs off. But I was watering it the other day, and there is a root coming out the bottom, so I’m guessing it just needs a bigger pot and then it will be happier. I’m going to try and run out to the store this weekend to pick out a pot for him.
I have my very own tomato plant :)
I also have an aloe plant which I use for acne and stuff.
My tomato plant has 3 tomatoes on it, but they are still very green still. It’s grown about 2 feet in length.
