Joan is regrouping in the Philippines
I probably paid too much, but I’m just going to see what happens in the long run. You just still can’t beat that San Diego weather.

...but to live and love here is paradise. My fiance and I live in a large 2 story atop a hill with a 180 degree northern vista.
We have a large backyard with a pool, a fish pond, and two large gazebos. We bought it for 350K—but this house up in the northern county area would cost 750,000. It’s about elitism and where all the whiteys live. WE live in a mized ethnic neighborhood where the folks are real.

I’m in escrow on a 1 bed 1 bath. It closes at the end of this month. I’m selling a place that is bigger (2br 2bath) and was purchased for 1/2 of what it’s going for now. Crazy! But this time I’m buying this one on my own, and it will be all mine mine mine! Not to mention, it’s only a 15 minute drive from the beach. :)
Bought my first place in 1993 as a single person earning 1/3 of what I do today. :)
When we moved here two years ago sure SD was really pricey. But it now has appreciated >20% and we didn’t have to sell the first place (we moved from LA) and that was another great move.
My advice – get whatever you can afford, save aggressively, work a second job, do whatever you need to do. The first place is always the hardest – it gets easier from there.
I own a 4br 3bath in Austin, TX. It’s about $163,000. That house, if it were in my hometown would be worth over a million dollars.
However, a house in San Diego is worth every cent. I love San Diego.
