xoxoxo
happy belated birthday~ I hope your weekend is going well!
i actually thought of you a few times on the 4th and also since then, and even started writing a birthday greeting here, but was looking for the perfect poem to send to you, which i didn’t find till now…
... well, actually, i’m not so sure that it is perfect at all, but still it’s a very interesting poem, and i’m sure you’ll at least like it, if not love it.
i hope that this year brings you much success, peace and joy. May your book be accepted/published, may your poetry also be published, may your life be replete with the gifts of the everyday and the sublime.
Happy Birthday Ruth! I’m sorry it’s two days late . . . but I hope you had a fabulous day and that the city put on an appropriately festive fireworks display for you.
Flirt misses Bella and Angel

The Candle
Look at her, the dancer!
Graceful and all fire
turning, changing colour,
climbing into heaven,
dancing with the wind,
so wild, so fragile,
one blow, she is gone,
she is no more,
melted into the air,
merged with the wind,
who took her flame,
who stole her passion?
No, my breath transformed her,
gave her a new life,
cool, exiting, invisible

P.S. Sorry I’m late, I guess I wasn’t paying any attention!

Ruth G-
Wishing you a year of creative output, dancing, and children in your life!
Thanks for being a wise and caring voice on 43Things.
Chuq (username: yakuza) I thought I was busy before!
I’m very glad that she is on this site, and very glad that I’ve gotten to know her a little. If you don’t know RuthG, take some time and read some of what she has to say.
She’s truly an inspiration and while I’m late for her birthday, I did remember it. Happy Birthday Ruth!
Adar is defending her marriage.
but wishing you a wonderful year ahead.
I feel a little silly, since I’d picked out a July 4 poem for you, from Emily Dickenson:
MY country need not change her gown,
Her triple suit as sweet
As when ’t was cut at Lexington,
And first pronounced “a fit.”
Great Britain disapproves “the stars”;
Disparagement discreet,—
There ’s something in their attitude
That taunts her bayonet.
Happy Birthday, RuthG!
It’s been wonderful getting to know you here on 43things, and I wish you every happiness and success for the coming year. Hope you had a fantastic day!
