I have roughly 15 boxes of material possessions that I no longer use sitting by the front door. ARC will come on Monday to collect them! Hurray! However, looking around the house, I still feel overwhelmed by the number of things that we own, even though we own less than most people that we know, I still feel that it is too much. How much should one own? As the holidays approach, I fear that we may become bombarded with nicknacks that we do not need or want. But, giving away newly received gifts always makes me feel ungrateful. I daydream of fitting all that I need into a backpack and heading for the hills….

...try to pawn some of the DVDs off to friends. This isn’t as ideal as donating to a library where more people could profit, but it does get rid of some quickly and with little effort.
- DVDs
- CDs
- books
- clothes
- all the other junk that I don’t use or is useless
In theory, I’d like to sell things like the DVDs and CDs because the extra cash would be nice. But I’m a bit too lazy to make the effort. I might just end up donating them to a library. I’ll definitely give the clothes away. For the rest, I’d like to throw it all away (even if I hate the idea of adding to a big landfill and the modern and wasteful buy-and-throw-away life-style). It’s still the easiest and quickest solution.
This starts with having fewer 43 things. Hence the shortening.
we’re living pretty simply as it is, but ooooh i would love to get waaaay down to the bare bones…
