and not just because Christina Ricci is nearly naked in it all the time.
I was talking about Ghost Rider the other day, about (shit I’ve allready forgotten her name, the actress with the big…) Eva Mendez and how she’d been cast with Will Smith in another film because she was ‘coloured enough’ that it wouldn’t offend americans. Then along comes ‘Black Snake Moan’: black & white, young and old, jilted lovers, real love: really human characters.
Ricci’s naked, has lot’s of sex and still the movie isn’t exploitive – the movie isn’t about that, it make it hard to notice the nudity ‘cause something else is happening

O yeah, here’s the really good part: for all that Ricci’s beaten up, a ‘slut’, lives in a trailer, or her boyfriend is a ‘coward’, or Jackson is bald and pot-bellied they all matter in this film They don’t have to be rich, brave, beautiful, smart-alecs – they can be just who they are and you watch and learn from them and enjoy them.
