Alexis777 just recorded the thing that made me most happy today :)

    Ahhhhh :) 16 months ago

What a great goal! I went through my shoes, and am left with two pairs of cute boots, three pairs of converse sneakers and a pair of DC skate shoes. I love them all! Super comfort and they make me feel wonderful :) Went through my clothes, got rid of the ones I always go straight past when trying to find an outfit, and I’m now left with th stuff that I think actually looks good on me. Feels good having it all de-cluttered and now no matter what I pick, I’ll be all set to feel great! :]

I made up five trashbag-size donation bags of stuff I don’t need, doesn’t fit, or I don’t want to wear any more. They are in the trunk of my car and need to be delivered, but they are out of my house!

I’ve been doing this already, so it’s a great new things to add to my list! I’ve never been a “cute shirt” kind of guy, but I’ve always wanted to be one, so in the past couple months, I’ve bought about 15 different “cute” shirts, and I’ve gotten rid of a good number of shirts with stupid logos and brand names and sports teams. I want my clothes to make people, including me!, feel GOOD! I get plenty of compliments on them when I wear them out, and that definitely makes ME feel good…

I’m sad now that the simple act of spending a little bit of money stopped me from being a little bit happier each and every day for so long. Now, I need to work on pants!

PS – I got a lot of the shirts from Threadless

Like every other area of my life, there is a bunch of useless junk that needs to be discarded. I have a bunch of great stuff too, that needs to be used to its full potential.

I tend to be a chameleon, dressing according to my mood and the situation, and also I live in a place where there are endless opportunities to costume. And I can sew and modify things. So it’s really hard to get rid of stuff because it can always be “worked into something.” I guess the starting point is deciding what kind of image I DON’T want to present, and getting rid of anything that smacks of that image.

    DANCING SHOES 2 years ago

I bought high heels, purple, in a sale. They’re really lovely but I don’t know if I can really wear these: I’m just not that sort of person.

Having a lot of thoughts about the role of clothes in identity. Clothes are part of how I present myself to other people; I generally present myself as matronly, dowdy, poor posture, tatty clothes, like I don’t care. I want to care, but I also don’t want to buy into the idea that this is what’s important about someone, rather than how they act and interact.

But why should dressing ok make someone a worse person?

sold some, bought some 2 years ago

I sold some of my non-great-feeling clothes, and I bought some rock’n’roll t-shirts. I’ll look like an idiotic American when I move to England, but that’s okay. That’s exactly what I’ll be. :)

Today I gave away a bunch of clothes that I never wear b/c they’re uncomfortable and/or unflattering. My closet looks a bit more manageable now!

Is there a pair of cute shoes that won’t hurt my feet????

I am getting ready to enter the for real, civilian job market and I know I am going to have to wear heels, and that terrifies me. I need comfort!!
