I’m a little late in updating this goal… After a big debate with myself about which life-altering goal to set/accomplish before Labor Day, I was offered the opportunity to help launch a unique website with a couple of friends. It is still a work in progress, but I definitely think this project fits in well with this goal. It is something that is definitely leading me into unexplored territory. 5 years ago

Buster BensonTwo things, actually.

I wrote the outline for a book I want to write, and got engaged. 5 years ago

MarinaDid it!

The ironic thing was, I kept putting off this blog launch until I could get a custom Wordpress layout, and then decided (in order to accomplish this goal) to just put it up even if I wasn’t crazy about the template. Then, lo and behold, I found a very cool template that I really like the day before I launched.

Check it out at http://www.sufficientthrust.com/ ... if you’re on 43things my blog would probably interest you :) 5 years ago

In a very Libran manner, I didn’t even get past the decision-making part. ha! 5 years ago

the only thing i have done is settled for where i am at… things just arnt ready for changing yet. 5 years ago

MsAudaciousUntitled

I decided that I am going to accept the place I live at right now as home. That means to finish unpacking and put my pictures up, etc etc. Secondly to really make my relationship work. Which means letting go of the past, and remembering to respect each other even if the other starts it. Third, to accept that I wont be going back to work right away and get into a liveable routine with the kids, even if it means hiring a sitter now and then to get a break. I don’t know how life impacting any of this is but it wont hurt to quit fighting things the way they are. Things really arnt bad and he is working his tail end off to give me this beautiful two story home instead of the cramped apartment, I think I need to stop expecting more and just love whats around me! 5 years ago

MsAudaciousUntitled

Tick TOck. I really got nothing still. I have been working on losing weight but have yet to lose a substantial amount. I have yet to return to work. OR pay anything off. I guess I will be marking this off :( 5 years ago

JakeBWill this change my life?

The blog itself won’t change my life, but it’s set off a whole load of chain reactions which might. It’s been a whole new training ground for me.

I’m aiming to include at least 20 entries by the time the goal ends and then I’ll post it here. 5 years ago

MarinaDecisions, Decisions

Oh man. I just realized I only have 19 days left to decide on and complete this goal…

Lots of options: Take up bikram yoga. Run daily. Stop being such a perfectionist and just launch my damned blog already.

I think I pick the latter.

My only consolation for this procrastination is that I have already done a number of more formally life-changing things this year, just before this challenge was issued… 5 years ago

MsAudaciousUntitled

What to do, what to do? Time is running out and I have no idea what would change my life. Everything seems so miniscule in the big picture. In the long run, it wont matter if I lose twenty pounds by labor day 07 or if I pay off some debt. In the long run, those are just passing things. So what can I do that is big? That will have a major impact right now and later. Nothing doable screams to me!!! i have a feeling I am going to be giving this one up come labor day! 5 years ago

MsAudaciousUntitled

Labor Day is coming up and I still have no idea. I had considered leaving him but of course now things are good again. Almost seems like theres a chance. But I need to figure out the something to do! 5 years ago

snowstarThe little house

I found a couple to live in the little house and help take care of the place. This has been a goal for so long I had almost given up on it but finally it is all coming together. 5 years ago

tacogrrlGood grief this is a tough one!

I’m having a bloody difficult time figuring this one out. Every week I seem to have changed this summer’s goal… 5 years ago

TinkI started a 43 Things list...

...and I’ve already accomplished or made significant strides toward completing several goals that, even while merely “in progress,” are changing my life for the better.

I’ve been inspired to implement my vague plan for spending one of my vacation weeks “working on my space” – and to set specific, realistic goals for this project both for that time period (which I’m about a third of the way into as I write this entry) and for the subsequent weeks and months.

And I’ve learned a great deal from other 43T folk, including tips for using this site effectively and links to a number of other hugely helpful personal productivity sites and tools.

I’ve become a 43T evangelist, recommending it to friends, neighbours, and even relative strangers (e.g., the professional organizers with whom I’ve been discussing the home-office decluttering).

Only one problem with declaring this the “one thing that©ould seriously change my life”: I found this site because I joined Weight Watchers online, and 43T was mentioned on one of that site’s message boards. So maybe that’s what I should list here instead. And of course joining WW, assuming that I succeed in following the plan and losing 90 pounds, also qualifies as probably leading to significant change in my life.

And I joined WW because I happened to take a walk on Canada Day, and bumped into a neighbour whose remarkable weight-loss prompted me to ask her how she did it…

And so on. Infinite regression. Getting sleepy. Satisfied with this entry as is. 5 years ago

Mary HawkinsDecided!

My boyfriend and I are joining the Y together tomorrow! I have never joined a gym before, but hopefully if we both join at the same time, we’ll get each other to actually use it… 5 years ago

Zazumba 08got my taste of teaching zumba

and it was fun! Can’t wait for the workshop 5 years ago

MsAudaciousUntitled

Leave him, move back home, get a job and my own accounts. There isn’t too much I could do. Half of what I listed wont really happen. SO I am having a hard time figuring this one out. 5 years ago

snowstar1 week

I hope the thing I have been working on will come to fruition next week. I feel too superstitious to talk about it until then! 5 years ago

snowstarprogress

At first I was struggling to come up with something to do. I still am but I have something in the works that would fit the bill. Fingers crossed. 5 years ago

JakeBBlog Away

I’ve finally settled on my blog idea and written the first entry. My initial idea wasn’t going anywhere so I’ve tied the new one in with a couple of other projects that I’m running. Until today, I thought that I might be stuffed as I was under the impression that I only had until August. Now I’ve got until September so it’s not completely hopeless! 5 years ago

BonnieHard to determine!

Here are the perameters I have set for myself:
1)I can’t be something I was going to do anyway
2) It has to be something I can do by myself. There can’t be too many outside factors that could possibly prevent me from completing my goal. If I am going to fail, I want to fail because of something I did/didn’t.

this narrows things down a bit
-Finish that coding project I started ages ago, but gave up on in disgust over php. Maybe! but it seems like an awful chore. Reasons it could be life-changing: Finishing a big project – having a completed program that I designed from the ground up, is a good portfolio sort of thing, should I decide that I like coding after all. Plus, there is an audience that would play it, and I could get some sort of recognition. maybe.

- Finish and implement “What color is your Parachute?”even though it seems dumb.
Along that line:
-Finally read getting things done.
Let’s combine these two to – Read and implement three supposedly “Lifechanging” self-help books. still a possibility.

- Get a tattoo (was going to do this anyhow). Disqualified due to violation of rule one.

- Start an epic art project. exact definition of “epic” to be determined. too vague.

-Have the BEST SUMMER EVAR!!!!!
See rule one.

- Move into a dirty, dumpster-diving, bike-riding anarchist artist gutter house.

- Live by myself.
see rule two.

-Wean myself off the internet.
Yeah, not going to happen. 5 years ago

smallsmileI've decided

what I am going to do. It might not sound like something that will seriously change my life, but I think it actually will. I’m planning on getting my whole room(s) in order. I’m getting rid of what I don’t need/want, putting in a computer, and generally cleaning/decorating/rearranging.

Every Saturday I’m forced to clean my room, and it usually takes me the entire day. I think this will free up a day of the week for me, as well as keep me from losing things. 5 years ago

Mary HawkinsHmm...

I’m already involved in the summer challenge, but I’d like to spend some time thinking about this one… I’m visiting my last four states before Dec 18th, 2007, and I don’t know that I could really take on something life-changing beyond that, but I’d like to at least mull it over before I just drop in one of my current goals and call it a challenge.

Edit: maybe I’ve already done it—in the last six months I’ve gotten bizarrely steady freelance with two clients and finished off three projects that I’d had on my plate forever, including my boyfriend’s documentary. Even if it’s not entirely my life-changing event, that was a big one… 5 years ago

Zazumba 08Kicks my butt

Adding in 30-40 minutes of Zumba after I work out. This is a fun fun way to lose a few lbs. 5 years ago

Zazumba 08Signed up for the Zumba Instructor Workshop

It’s in August—this should be interesting! If you don’t like things, change ‘em, right? 5 years ago

Zazumba 08Zumba

Finally tried a Zumba class in my quest to mix up my fitness and do something big to change my life before Labor Day (i.e. get healthier). 5 years ago

Zazumba 08Stick With It

A friend suggested this. I’m doing great with the fitness but slipping on the eating and wine calories add up too! Need to stick with my plan of eating less, and adding more fitness in. Don’t become complacent. 5 years ago

BonnieA few ideas:

-Finish (or at least look at) that coding project I started ages ago, but gave up on in disgust over php. It’s a terrible language, by the way.

- Finish and implement “What color is your Parachute?”even though it seems dumb.
Along that line:

-Finally read getting things done.

-Get a tattoo (was going to do this anyhow).

- Start an epic art project. exact definition of “epic” to be determined.

-Have the BEST SUMMER EVAR!!!!!

- Move into a dirty, dumpster-diving, bike-riding anarchist artist gutter house.
Or, on the other side of the coin:

- Live by myself.

-Wean myself off the internet. 5 years ago

EmilyHmmmm...

I have a list of summer goals, but none of them seem right for this project somehow.

Most of those things I feel I should be doing, or I’m doing for someone else.

“Get a tattoo” is the only thing I truly want to do for myself, but that doesn’t seem right either.

I’d love to learn how to accept myself for the sex goddess I am and move on from my break-up, but that seems like a really tall order. haha 5 years ago
