It was a long drive from MN but worth the trip.
How I did it: Took a vacation out to L.A. with my fiancee' to see her sister and brother-in-law. As soon as we got off the plane and got some food, we beelined it to the ocean. Read how I did it…
How I did it: but i did find haight and ashbury just for the hell of it AND!, most importantly, I went to Bombay Ice Creamery--i've been wanting to go there for several years. although, they were out of rose petal and saffron. I forgot about this site. Anyway, in March I took a trip to California and made friends with the Pacific! Or, made friends with it as much as I’m willing to makes friends with a big, scary ocean.
Growing up on the East coast, the Atlantic is murky, but I still miss the ocean living in the Midwest now.
I live on the East Coast, I go to the shore all summer and love the ocean so much! I really want to go out west and stand on the shore of the Pacific, and watch the sunset.
in oregon, in washington, and in california. much of the pacific ocean. i’m glad my goals are so easy to attain.
not only did i see the pacific ocean but i almost died while doing it. i strayed off a path on a cliff in san francisco and walked along a deserted beach and (after putting my toesies in the water!) when i made my way back up another path to the top of the cliff i saw a possible way to climb down again to an actual beach. however, i realized that it was a mighty bit steeper than i had anticipated. good thing there was some rusty barbed-wire type fence i could grab onto (and you bet your bottom dollar i held on with all my might) and pulled myself back up to the top of the cliffs!
Flew over it on the way to Maui and stayed in a place by the beach. IT’S ONE BIG BODY OF WATER! :-)
Hey, come visit! Especially in the summer :)
Right now it’s kinda cold (for us) and chronically foggy.
If you can swing it, the very very best place EVER to see the Pacific Ocean is at Chesterman Beach near Tofino, BC (on Vancouver Island). It’s surfing headquarters and is absolutely awe inspiring even for a woman who has lived near the ocean for 26 years.
Another great place is the Skookumchuk Narrows near Egmont on the Sunshine Coast (just a short ferry ride North of Vancouver). It’s a very narrow passage and the full force of the tide changes push through in a very dramatic show! At low tide there are all kinds of starfish and critters in the tide pools and on the rocks. Beautiful!
The first time I really saw it was when my boyfriend and I took a cross-country trip to Cali since he was relocating there. I see him at least every month and, alongside making a visit to the In-and-Out burger joint, we go to the beach for at least an hour. GORGEOUS!
Pictures of the Pacific Ocean doesn’t do it any justice! You have to see it in person!
