Read Richard Branson's "Screw It , Let's Do It!"...  — 4 weeks ago

...yesterday. It is branded and classed as a ‘Quick Read’ – I got through it in an hour!

It’s punchy, it’s to the point and it isn’t condescending as so many motivational books are.

I did read his first autobiography “Losing My Viginity” a few years back – “Screw It” is somewhat a better organised summary of this but introduces some new material in clear as well.

Well worth getting. Search on Amazon.com if you can’t find a local book supplier. Keep it with you and re-read it regularly to keep motivated. I rate Branson because he’s a man of the people and he’s self-made. But above all he has learnt the enormous value of integrity.

Do it. Go. NOW!

Done it!  — 2 months ago

Yes I did it. What? Something. More specifically, another of the goals on my Life List. (Waking up when my alarm clock goes off.) I marked this as being done but indicated I wanted to do it again. Then I move it back to my Life List. (Unfortunately doing it like this does not retain the completed at least once mark!) But this needs to stay on top of the Life List (for now) as a permanent reminder until this becomes a habit.

Why this goal?  — 2 months ago

Some thought is a good thing. However I once had a mentor who said that I overthink things. Often with a view to find reasons not to do things or just plain believing that trying something will not succeed. I now believe he was right. I do overthink things and often take an unnecessarily negative view. So instead of pondering and procrastinating then berating myself for doing that instead of taking positive meaningful action, I need to just do it.

Looking at the above – I can see my belief is strong! Howvever it is a negative belief. Gosh. Well let’s see if I can switch that around – turn it on to its head. Let’s just do it!

Getting started halfway through the year  — 3 months ago

that’s what I seem to be doing. I heard somewhere that ‘the less time I have to do something, the quicker I get it done’. Well I hope that’s the same for me. I have just started my English correspondence work tonight, and I have decided that from 8:30am- 3:30pm I will be doing school work. It’s going to be hard to commit myself the first week or so… but I Will.
But first I needa get a good night sleep… every morning is a promise of new and fresh beginnings.

A FREE DAY  — 3 months ago

What will you do with it??

I once asked Mom what she thought ‘a good day’ was for her. She answered, “It’s a day when I get a lot of work done.” At that moment I thought that was a very boring ‘good day’! For me it is good when I catch up with friends or spend quality time with my family, or write a couple songs, or learn something new… But one of my friends who came to visit for the weekend said, “When I was at home and I didn’t have to work I couldn’t be bothered to do any schoolwork, I hated it. But now that I’m working I’d rather do schoolwork so that I can get to Uni!”
So on this free day I have- I will remind myself of that statement and make the most of this year and the fact that I CAN STUDY.
Now!

"I WILL."  — 3 months ago

That is a very powerful statement. I’m saying
-I WILLfinish my schooling this year
-I WILL read those books I have on my shelves
-I WILL get up early and finish early [[Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise]]
-I WILL save my money for something worth saving for, even though there are a zillion things that I would spend it on
-I WILLNOT BE LAZY ANYMORE
-I WILL re-write my songs on proper sheet music
-I WILL keep my diary updated
-I WILL respond to my parent’s requests with a smile and a “right away.” Not “I’m nearly finished, just a second.”
-I WILL make the most of the time I have with my parents and siblings before I move out
-I WILL work on the habits that need to change
I WILL not think of myself most of the time but spend more time thinking of others and their needs
-I WILL practice my art
-I WILL get better at sight reading piano pieces
-I WILLknow my Bible
-I WILL voice my ideas
-I WILL be considerate
-I WILLlive every moment!!!!!!!
