...as moving to the country is all about expanding: horizons, options, opportunities, lungs.
No longer looking only in Lafayette and the surrounding areas, but now considering Pennsylvania. Yeah, I typed it out-loud.
I’ll type it again: Pennsylvania.
Believe it or not, we can get 50% more house for the $$, and 10x more land! And good grief, I swear those houses look like they were peeled off of a movie screen. Rolling hills, sweet green grasses, tumbling thunderheads over the lip of the horizon…. “Apple trees for pies, cider, and cobblers. And peach trees, too.”
That’s five states away from family, from Miner’s job, but who in the family wouldn’t want to fly up to a place with four bona fide seasons and white Christmases every year???
And Amish country! Practically in our own back yard!
Pipe dreams, perhaps. But talk about a piece of Americana. Yeah, I figure Pennsylvania isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but neither is the burning Southern coast. Pros and cons to everything.
But to my mind, if you’re gonna write a book, either do it in the Louisiana heat or in the Pennsylvanian hills.

Amy doesn't sleep, is cranky and just wants this baby to be born!
We hope to buy a piece of property that has a home on it that was built by my family in 1790. The house has been in my family ever since and has been well-kept and was restored in the 80’s (new foundation, walls, indoor plumbing, electricity, central air, etc), so it is in really good condition for an old country farmhouse!

I have to do it. Its bad for the soul to be in the City. No animals, crazy traffic, people who only care about what the next person has. Instead of savouring the flavour of a local cheese, or watching the sunset, or taking in the perfume of a newly picked apple. I know what makes me happy. Its not money.

We’ve done it – given up city life and moved to the country. Moved to a dairy farm to be precise.
It’s great having lots of space and fresh air for the kids to run around in but life on a dairy farm is hard work during the calving season!
If you can go without a nightlife then moving to the country is well worth a try, especially if you have kids.

We've arrived

and it has surpassed our expectations in so many ways. Because the school year has ended, I was able to spend the first three days settling in and unpacking. Our first night here we couldn’t believe the dark and quiet. It’s a little bit of heaven on earth!

until the big move. We are already getting packed up and we are so excited! I’ve done all the address changes, etc. We have a busy weekend coming up and then on Monday we head out.

Yesterday we looked at a fabulous country rental apartment about 7 miles outside Petaluma. It sits on 10 acres with 4 other small residences. We were able to meet most of the others who live there. It’s perfect! We turn in our application tomorrow and wait for the call… fingers are crossed!

angiem357 wondering why stupid food has stupid power over me!
Tom and I have grandiose plans of moving out to the country at some time, but it’s not going to be any time soon. And, quite frankly, even if I end up being single again, I’m still making plans to move out to the country.
I know I will never live outside of Texas, and that’s really the way I prefer it!

I want to move out of Louisville and move to a smaller city or preferably the country. I love the peacefulness and the friendliness that the country has. I do not like the constant busy life of the city.
