I took a 4hr. trip on a greyhound bus this past month. It was pretty cool I think. Interesting to see all the different people that ride the buses, and interesting to be able to do nothing but relax, read, listen to music, look at the scenary, etc. Definitely will do again!

Taking the Bus 2 years ago

Wow I took the bus many times in my life and it was because it was cheap and at the time my parents did not have much money. I took the bus later in life because being a musician it was cheap and I did not have much money. Everytime it was an ecsperience to remember. There is not once where something that didn’t happen worth talking about. I am not sure what it is about Greyhound but there is a spirit of the unexspected on that bus at all times. Like many of these posts, I met runaway teens, drug addicts, wanna be country singers etc. But perhaps the most interesting person that I met was this blind woman whos name I forget but she had some of the most interesting conversation I had ever heard but more than that she listened to and heard every word that I said although I spoke very softly. It was very nice and confirmed my love for people.

It can be worth it but I prefer taking the train instead because it’s much more invigorating!!!

It took me 24 hours to get from Baltimore, MD to Asheville, NC, including an overnight leg that featured sitting next to the bathroom, sitting next to a kid playing video games, taking a rest stop at 3 am when I had finally managed to fall asleep, and being stranded at the Greenville, SC bus station for 6 hours. Greyhound didn’t even get me to Asheville-I had to have someone pick me up in Greenville.

Don’t even get me started on being stranded at the Raleigh-Durham airport connector after it had closed for the day.

If you’re going to take Greyhound, travel short distances, don’t try to make connections, and don’t travel overnight.

From now on I’m flying. It’s not that much more expensive if you shop around and you’re flexible.

Senior Trip 3 years ago

After high school graduation, I took off with two friends for a beach in Delaware. On the Greyhound, we met someone trying to sell us drugs, someone who wanted us to listen to him sing the song he was goign to get famous on (he… didn’t get famous), and a runaway girl who was headed home.

I took a bus from Atlanta to New York (18 hrs) and back (21 hrs) by myself . It was uncomfortable, but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. I got to know myself and my surroundings better than on the train or a plane. It was wonderful.

took me 4 days on a greyhound. It was uncomfortable as hell but I met some amazing characters, heard some amazing stories and saw some amazing places.
