I would like to learn to find the flare in storytelling. Just being able to tell people about my day in the most exciting way. learning how to spot what is interesting to others and opportunities for expanding on what is right before me.

When I think about what made me truly happy as a child (and as an adult for that matter) it was being swept away by a good story. In college I took a Children’s Literature course and it was such a fun class BECAUSE the instructor would tell us a story before really beginning the lecture on the books we were reading/analyzing (his name was John Stenzel at UC DAVIS). Sometimes I think I get too focused on… the POINT of things nowadays. On the return on investment I get from doing something instead of just ENJOYING what I’m DOING, EXPERIENCING, when did I become this much of a time scrooge? I want to be able to tell a good story to recapture that contentment.
There are people in the world who can really tell a good story. They can captivate the mind and you can’t help but hang on to their every word. I have the DESIRE to tell a good story, and sometimes I can, but it’s filled with “um” and other unnecessary words. It would be nice to be like Garrison Keiler one day.
