Word Count 9.29.09 2 months ago

Current word count 23,026.
I’m over 1/3 of the way to my current goal of 60,000 and I must tell ya, the first 10,000 words were the hardest and what helped me get further was that I focused on writing what I got the most excited about.

Current word count for my first book: 12,471. Current word goal is 65,000 but if my book concludes before then, I won’t be too mad – it is what it is.

My first book "How Children Learn Math" 14 months ago

I’ve outlined all the chapters
I’ve started Chapter 1 and the first Theoretical Interlude (about Piaget).
In order to reach this goal, I’m going to need to put time for writing into my weekly schedule. Thursday and Friday mornings would be good.

My 15-year-old soul purged until I have a book that I must now complete to know I am living true.

Or finish one of the books that I'm writing.... 2 years ago

Or start and finish a (new, of course) Nano-novel…

Because it will not write itself... 2 years ago

Well, it will. I just need to re-focus in order to let that happen again.

This one in particular I’ve been working on for longer than I care to divulge. It’s not finished because I at once got extremely precious about it, to the point where I stopped working on it outside my head and moved on to other things to get extremely precious about.

Drafting in your head is a BAD idea.

Just finish the damn thing already.

The Task @ Hand 3 years ago

The task of completing this first (small) book: complex.

As someone who recently re-discovered writing, I find my writing preferences changing frequently. This creates a major roadblock in the process of compiling poems for my small publication.

I need to mix them well so that they appear to be less of a jumble of napkin notes and more of a book.

Maybe I just need an editor.

Finish writing my book - defined 3 years ago

When I wrote this I had already completed my first draft. My real definition of finishing it is to edit it to the point where I am comfortable submitting it somewhere.

Currently the book’s working title is Distant Journeys, but that name will have to change. It’s basically a spy / thriller about a day to day guy who finds himself deep in a conspiracy plot.

I started it on the NaNoWriMo site where the goal is to write 50k words in a month. It was my first attempt and I managed 12k words. The next spring I picked it back up and completed it in a few months at 75k words. That was nearly four years ago and I still haven’t started writing the second draft…

New [first] book on the way... 4 years ago

I’m in the [hopefully] final stages of writing a book on prayer. The working title is “Praying the Pattern; the Lord’s Prayer as framework for prayer and life”
and my synopsis at this stage reads: “Praying with the body, praying with our lifestyles, with organisers, scrapbooks stones and cards, creative ideas and liturgies, all of this and more to help us to pray the pattern of the lord’s prayer. The ‘Our Father’ is often repeated verbatim but much less often prayed as pattern. This book advocates taking the Lord’s prayer way more seriously and gives us ideas and ways in to explore it for ourselves. You’ll also find questions for further thought and an invitation to continue the exploration and share your discoveries and thought with others through the book’s wiki web site.”
Just got the final touches to put to the main text and a liturgy or two to polish off. Then it’s into the publishing process
