Originally I intended to set a goal of drawing 100 pictures till the end of the year, but I doubt I would be able too and with school and all, so I lowered it to 50 pictures. I also want to know how much would a private tutor or a class increase your skills compared to doing it by yourself with lots books and other resources.
How to draw every day
How I did it: I elected to do a life drawing class at uni, I could draw before -from photographs, which is really different (easier, all the visual problems are solved for you), I now believe that can't really say you can draw until you can draw well from life. My lecturer and class mates are really encouraging, I hated my first class (I was a little intimidated) but I kept at it, I'm half way through the semester and I've already progressed so far with my drawing, now I look forward to drawing everyday. I'll definitely continue life drawing classes after this course has finished to keep up the drawing
Lessons & tips: Keep at it, that's all I can say about it.
Resources: Classes with encouraging tutors and classmates REALLY helps

Today I am going to do my sketchbook assignment for school and then sketch while watching a movie. My goal this week is to draw for a few hours every day. I want to fill my sketchbook by Christmas…

hmmm, I’m finding it difficult to get back into the drawing habit. so far I’ve managed to draw, on average, every 3 days. Sometimes I do extra drawings in my visual diary to try and ‘catch up’. I think my eye is a little rusty too – I find myself unable to just draw whatever is in front of me, whereas I used to be able to see something interesting in anything. oh well, keep trying.
Here’s the last drawing I did (2 days ago):

Today I am going to begin this goal and start drawing in my dusty sketchbook with my brand new drawing pencils.
Things I’m going to practice drawing:
My hedgehog, hands, tortoises, skeletons, moths, eyes, dinosaurs, mice, radios, carnations, and scorpions.
So I found this society and shell try to draw everyday something from my real life. No matter how hideous it is in the beggining. Everyday starts.. tomorrow )
I’m in my third year of art school so you would think that drawing every day would be a given, but i find myself avoiding it at all costs because of pressures. It used to be a discipline i imposed on myself gladly, and just drew constantly without having to force it.
Now with each passing year of school I let more and more get in the way. Opinions of teachers, classmates, thinking about art history too much before drawing etc etc.
the pressure has totally killed my joy, but it ends in 2 months so I hope to get back to this goal then, if not earlier…

Drew for three hours yesterday! I’m proud of myself. I’m gonna try to draw for 3 hours a day for the rest of the week.
