I remember being forced to read this in school, but I barely remember a thing. Time to get some classic literature flying and stop slackin’.

I don’t know where Gavy is in her reading, but today we should be reading book 15, if we were on schedule to complete a book a day. I know for me, that hasn’t happened, and I have some major cramming ahead of me!
I am definitely going to have a busy week this week.
Slowly, my Greek class translated it together. Difficult, but much more rewarding.
ive been reading in my spare time and its been taking some time. im nearly half way threw with it and im enjoying it but im wondering if there is a better traslation. someone who wants to recond a good translation please do.
It took me a lot of time, but I’m finnaly at the end of this goal! :)
What else can I say – the book is great and I’m really proud of myself!
And I hope I will end it soon – it’s great book, but I have huge list of book I had to read for yesterday…so I’m officialy in hurry…:)
People doing it with me – who do like the most? And in whose translations are you reading it?
Considering the original was in verse poetry and the version I read was just prose it definitly felt a little off. It doesn’t follow any normal conventions of story writing. Everything in the book seems to happen at the behest of the gods, for all intents & purposes the characters have little free will, the array of gods simply dictate event after event. They often have conflicts which throw uncertainty on the possible outcomes, but I felt like this story was more about the gods than the mortals & thier war. But then I’m judging it by modern standards—I don’t know enough about that period of history to give it a proper contextual analysis
However its still a very influential piece of literature, and finally understanding refrences that show up to it all over is nice.
It took me a month but I finished it! It was a lot more enjoyable in retrospect than when I was actually reading it…
it was kind of boring and if you want a more exciting version just watch Troy. ( ;
