How I did it: In my case, it was pretty easy and I hadn't planned it at all.I think it all started in the autumn of 2007, when someone I knew taught me how to make a simple heart out of a napkin. At first it didn't go further than that, but some time later I felt curious about the subject and I wanted to learn something else. So I decided to look on the Internet and see what I could find. To my sur… Read how I did it…
Roberto is doing what he does every night, Pinky... "...trying to take over THE WORLD!"
How I did it: There are plenty of books available on origami. There's very little you can't learn from books. My philosopy professor, Robert Taurek, used to say, "I have a brother who is a medical doctor. There's nothing he knows I can't learn from books." He was absolutely right. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I bought the book "A Handbook of Origami: The Complete Practical Guide with Step-by-Step Techniques and over 80 Exciting Projects" from Amazon with some traditional origami patterned paper and have started making my way through this book. What I like about this book is that it has photographs with instructions so the steps are very easy to follow. I've yet to try learning from diagrams but I think it will be easier now that I know how to … Read how I did it…
How I did it: If learning origami means understanding the basic folds and successfully folding a few rudimentary objects, I guess I've learned the art. If it means committing to memory some multitudes of complex objects and all the steps to build them, I've got to get back to studying the plans.I figure I could get by if I ever was in a pinch. For instance, if a pet needed an impromptu water bowl, containers were needed for the kids to split popcorn or… Read how I did it…

This is just something I’ve always wanted to learn to do. One day I’d like to fold the 1,000 paper cranes for a wish.
Based on this NYC Metro Card Origami Cube, I made my own version with some old UK train tickets I found. If it wasn’t so small it wouldn’t have been so difficult and fiddly I think!
Once you figure out the mechanism it’s easy and if you go wrong (as I did a few times), you can easily sort it out :)
I suppose it’s pretty pointless really, I don’t know what to do with it but I definitely want to make more ;)
I’ve been searching for a hobby for ages that will actually help quiet my mind at the end of the day.
Something simple, yet artistic to help manage stress and produce something creative.
I think Origami would be a great place to start!
I think this will be fun and eventually I want to impress that special someone (whom I’ve not met yet) with a hand-made figure. :-)
I have always wanted to learn and I asked my Hubby for a book/kit for Christmas! I want to learn how to do cranes first. I think it will help to have a new hobby too. I have a lot of nervous energy and this might help me focus it on something creative & fun!
xAmethyst is learning origami this month!
I checked an origami book out of the library today and made my first heart. I think this is a great project for me for December. I can make origami decorations for the tree, and make some with wrapping paper to add to gifts.
I like origami very much, because it puts your creativity to the test, it is always new and wonderfull…Origami is pure creativity, you can do endless shapes if you just push the bariers…
