How I did it: Devin and I bought a tandem bicycle off of craigslist to have forever. We went to pick it up from a man's house and got a really good deal on it. We shopped for a while- the type of tandem we like goes so so quickly! We take it out and ride it on the sea wall

We rented a tandem bike for an hour at the beach. It was an old clunker with terrible saddles, but boy did we have fun. We are absolutely going to do it again.

Riding a tandem builds teamwork with your tandem partner, but it also amplifies power relationships. Some people call it the divorcycle for a reason.
I ride tandem with my kids, with me as captain; and with my husband as stoker. It’s valuable to have experience being both stoker and captain because you understand better what your partner is dealing with.
This summer, my husband and I are planning several major tandem rides—the Seattle-to-Portland ride; and RSVP, with an extension to Victoria.

A friend took me around her town in Germany on a tandem bike. It was quite easy, we only had one or two small problems in the beginning.
