"With a couple days' notice, work asked me to go to Sweden. How could I say no?"
How I did it: Got out my passport and got on a plane. Seriously. My company bought the tickets and booked the hotel and I figured the rest out when I got there.
Lessons & tips: Try the reindeer steak, the fish roe, the lingonberry jam, and the cloudberry ice cream. Oh, and the herring. I never thought I'd eat any of these things - OK, maybe the berries - and I am so glad I did. DON'T try to bring any meat products back with you as they'll take them away at customs.
Resources: The locals were fantastic, super friendly, and helpful. Everyone seems to speak English, many better than our fellow Americans.
