- Someone who has a good relationship with his own mother.
- Someone who gets along with my mother.
- Someone who is supportive of the extremely close relationship I have with my mother.
- Someone who would not be opposed to buying a house with a MIL apt. so my mother could move in, pay a little of our mortgage, babysit when we need her to and, when she gets old, NOT ever go to a nursing home.

- Someone who can make me laugh from my belly.
- Someone who appreciates when I laugh from my belly, and who would never look around the room to see if anyone is looking at us when I laugh my laugh. It’s loud, it’s infectious, and it can draw attention.
- Someone who can make a who room full of people laugh.
- Someone who is a great (not good) storyteller, and who appreciates storytelling as an important cultural art form.
- Someone whose humor is intelligent and quick and dry and silly. All at the same damn time.

- Someone who has an education level congruent to mine in terms of degree. (It is proven that the most successful relationships are those between two people who have the same level of education, i.e., both college graduates, or both hold Masters degrees, etc.)
- Someone who excelled academically like I did, because he wanted to, not just because he’s smart.
- Someone who supports my wish to go to graduate school, and someone who will support me for whatever I want to go for, be it an MFA in poetry or an MA in counseling or sex therapy.
