make a list of what I want from a relationship

• Someone who is sensible with regard to money, who will make wise, sound investments, and who can do those things without being miserly or cutting corners excessively.
• Someone who understands and agrees with with that it is the responsibility of nearly every human being to help his fellow man, and who would be willing to do that with me by donating both time and money to helping others. Gladly.

• Someone who will be a GREAT father.
• Someone who respects my long-standing and deep-seeded desire to have one child—and one child only.
• Someone who believes that spanking for anything other than dire circumstances (i.e., a pop on the hand in order to startle a child for almost running out into the street) is nonsensical.

• Someone who is active and enjoys being active.
• Someone who takes care of himself.
• Someone who enjoys doing things, like hiking, cycling, recreational sports, etc.
• Someone who loves soccer as much as I do and who will take off of work to watch the World Cup go finals with me.

• Someone who has a job that fulfills him, and that doesn’t go against my moral code (i.e., doesn’t work on a pro-life campaign, or for a company that tests on animals, etc.)
• Someone who doesn’t wish to remain stagnant in his career, but who continually works to advance and prosper.

• Someone who has a good relationship with his own mother.
• Someone who gets along with my mother.
• Someone who is supportive of the extremely close relationship I have with my mother.
• Someone who would not be opposed to buying a house with a MIL apt. so my mother could move in, pay a little of our mortgage, babysit when we need her to and, when she gets old, NOT ever go to a nursing home.
• Someone who makes my mother laugh.

• Someone who can make me laugh from my belly.
• Someone who appreciates when I laugh from my belly, and who would never look around the room to see if anyone is looking at us when I laugh my laugh. It’s loud, it’s infectious, and it can draw attention.
• Someone who can make a who room full of people laugh.
• Someone who is a great (not good) storyteller, and who appreciates storytelling as an important cultural art form.
• Someone whose humor is intelligent and quick and dry and silly. All at the same damn time.

• Someone who can old his own in a debate either against me, or against someone else as smart (or smarter) than himself.
• Someone who can make logical deductions.
• Someone who enjoys learning and actively seeks to widen his scope of knowledge and perception of various points of interest relevant to him.
• Someone who engages in politics similar to mine, especially on my biggest “issue”, capital punishment.
• Someone. Who. READS.

• Someone who has an education level congruent to mine in terms of degree. (It is proven that the most successful relationships are those between two people who have the same level of education, i.e., both college graduates, or both hold Masters degrees, etc.)
• Someone who excelled academically like I did, because he wanted to, not just because he’s smart.
• Someone who supports my wish to go to graduate school, and someone who will support me for whatever I want to go for, be it an MFA in poetry or an MA in counseling or sex therapy.

• No family history thereof.
• No self history thereof.
• NO tendency to binge drink/black out/drink to the point of forgetting one’s actions while intoxicated.
• The ability to go out for a drink…and have a drink.

A lot of attention.
