My son has planted them out, and they are still very tiny seedlings. I’m hoping they will take and do well.

My son decided to plant my seedlings out for me a couple of weeks ago. They are still going well, though I’m still worried they wont make it through the first lot of frosts we get I’m hopeful they will survive. Where they are situated they will provide a great windbreak from the North – here’s hoping they will continue to grow well.

I’ve picked up a whole lot of seedlings from a friend and I don’t know how many will survive. Wish me luck on this one. The toughest part will be getting them through the first 3 or 4 years, past the frost tender stage. I’m thinking of using them as a windbreak across the back of our garden area (once I’ve established their growth in pots first).

Well – so far this is the only bush food plant that I’ve bought. The problem is getting it past the frost tender stage so that it will grow ok. The frost has killed my first 2 attempts. This last tree I’m keeping a pot for as long as I can so I can keep it protected from the frost near the house. When I plant it out I’ll have to put shade cloth around it till it gets a bit taller and hopefully hardier. We don’t have any sheltered spot to plant it out in at the moment.
