Mere is getting reflective
“What about your time?”
Single parenting is tough. Hats off to the women who are single parents, work and raise happy children and find time for themselves, for things like health.
Once upon a time, I thought it would be easy. This is reality. I am posting here at 11.00 in the night about time for myself.
I wake up at 6.30, get daughter ready, drop of her at playschool, go to work, come back at 5.45, take her out for a walk,, play with her and she finally sleeps at 9.30. In between her need for attention, I get the house organised, try and sort my financial stuff. I sleep on an average at 12.00, getting in half hour of reading a magazine.
I would love to have an hour and a half to get back to shape. My physical fitness level is awful. I used to be sooo fit..( sigh). The only way I see this happening is a) I get wealthy b) A good maid comes my way, so that I don’t have to spend time in the evening catching up on household stuff or c) the lady who live next door comes through and gets a girl from up north to come and be a live-in help for me. Chance are bleak that any of the three will happen. If there are any prices for wishing and praying, I will probably get it.
One tired momma here!

I’ve been able to get more me time in by focusing on the positive and what’s important to me. Sometimes it’s lonesome, sometimes rewarding. Some of it involves other people, some involves just me. It all boils down focusing on what’s important and squeezing in time for it. Sometimes fitting it in feels like a strict, regimented schedule, but to me it’s better than not fitting it in. It’s all a balancing act. Life is busy, and the business deserves to be rewarded.

“Me” time for reading at leisure.
“Me” time to watch the rain fall.
“Me” time to write my friends overseas.
“Me” time to wander in a bookstore.
“Me” time to cook my favourite dishes.

I work three days a week so I get lots of me time to do my stuff but I need to spend more time with other people now, or just using my “me” time well.

I want to have more personal time for watching movies, playing games, and such. This will have to be accomplished by getting homework done earlier.

I don’t do it enough. I’m constantly thinking about what needs to be done next.
One thing I could do towards this goal is use my foot bath whirlpool I got for Christmas, 2006 and have only used twice.

It’s been hard. My ‘me’ time has come because of my mother’s passing. I’m no longer her willing caregiver, the one who made things possible. I am slowly learning to nurture myself.
