How to complete my summer reading list
How I did it: I didn't have cable, internet or a job for the majority of the summer. I was practically amish. I only read three of those books, but I did read 20+ others...

I find I prefer to approach books as I stumble upon them. I have a master list, but i don’t want to get tunnel vision. That said, congrats to everyone who did keep to their lists. Perhaps you are just more disciplined than I am.
No, I didn’t go to Iraq, but I read My War: Killing Time in Iraq by Colby Buzzell on top of my other stuff for school. :]
“The Power of Place” – Carl Sauer
“Music Scenes,” or “Popular Music and Youth Culture”
Some or all of a basic sociology text (any recommendations?)
“The Theory of Moral Sentiments” Adam Smith
“Girls Guide to Taking Over the World: Writings From The Girl Zine Revolution,” or some zines or a good feminist anthology
It so hard to be realistic abour a reading list when you hungrily want to read everything in sight .

Ok so obviously this didn’t happen but I am going to combine this list with the new books I chose for my goal of “Read 50 Books in 2007”.....list will follow!

I’ve decided to try this again because I really want to read most of the books on the list very badly…so I might as well keep on keeping on!

Hate to do it but after getting my syllabuses….I have to throw in the towel! I have 22 books to read for 1 class alone (and I have to write a review for each!!) and I’m carrying 5 classes!!
My research and writing intense theology independent study clearly takes priority over my personal reading list this summer and makes it difficult to find the motivation to read for myself compared to doing other things away from books for a change. Anyway I converted the books in my summer reading list into individual goals which will hopefully get read sometime before the end of the year and if not then definitely over my winter break before spring classes start up.
