...Barbra Streisand’s “Evergreen”.
At the least the bride had tears in her eyes. Many people told me afterwards that they enjoyed it. I really think it was worth it.
Love soft as an easy chair
Love fresh as the morning air
One love that is shared by two
I have found with you
Like a rose under the april snow
I was always certain love would grow
Love ageless and evergreen
Seldom seen by two
You and I will make each night a first
Every day a beginning
Spirits rise and their dance is unrehearsed
They warm and excite us, ‘cause we’ve got the brightest love
Two lights that shine as one
Morning glory and the midnight sun
Time we’ve learned to sail above
Time won’t change the meaning of one love
Ageless and ever, evergreen

A German proverb goes “Bad people don’t have songs.” They have karaoke!!! It turned out OK, I only hope the bass doesn’t blow out the speakers.
I wasn’t quite too happy with the guys who played and recorded it for me, as I had clearly asked for 2 things: a background for the song and a couple of bars of piano background to check the microphone level (sound check), so I’m not blowing my powder while going “one-two-one-two-testing-testing”. I should have insisted. They “forgot” to record the sound check bit. I was so pissed off when I heard that, I gave out to Susi loads, but since I didn’t pay anyone for their efforts, I can’t really complain. But boy, was I ticked off. I so wish I had put my foot down and made the boys record the sound check piece, first. Oooooh, why didn’t I??? Argh. Another German catchphrase goes something like “One doesn’t check a horse’s teeth if you’ve been offered it for free.”

With a lot of fun Thijs played the piano part for me yesterday at Susi’s place. Susi’s bf Moos did the mixing and when the basics where done (at about 22:30), the boys started to play around and record more layers and started to make it really cheesy, while Susi and I were checking out her latest pictures. I had to ask the guys not to make it all too sweet, after all I want to sing this for real and not be sounding like I’m taking the piss, but Susi reassured me that she will do the final mixing and mastering over the weekend, so I am confident that the beer-infused fun we had yesterday can be toned down if needs be.

I also called my friend Susi who will provide the recording device at her home during this week.
So all signs are super green.

I got a hold of the pianist today and we figured it be best to record the background next week. That should give me two weeks to practice, which should be enough time.

Yesterday. But I didn’t hear back from him, yet. But I will be patient and call him on Tuesday, when the nice weather is supposed to stop.

She is getting married. In my past life, I studied singing. So of course I will perform a love song for my sister and her groom. I already know which one it is going to be. Since she reads my 43things, I will not go into further detail. I have been practicing the song lyrics over and over in my head already. I am really bad with lyric black outs, which would be a shame.
