I still haven’t been to the dermatologist, but of course I’ve done more reading. I read that Vitamin A deficiency can lead to bumpy skin b/c Vitamin A suppresses sebum buildup in the pores. So I plan to eat more sweet potatoes, egg yolk, spinach, cantaloupe, apricot and other foods with good vitamin A content.
I’ve had a big set back on this goal since I stopped taking birth control pills (I had been taking them for 10 years). Now, instead of just mildly annoying bumpy arms and legs, I have real breakouts on my face! So instead of my usual soap and water routine, I now use alpha/beta hydroxy wash and salicylic acid lotion daily.

Previous Skin Issues 3 years ago

As far as the first skin condition, I found out my cousin had the same thing, so there must be some genetic predisposition. She suggested some treatments, which seems to work pretty well.

Why do I attract all these strange skin conditions???!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ughhhh!!! I’m so frustrated! I just want to rip off my skin and step into the skin of one of those cute little girls with no skin problems.

So my prayers weren’t answered. Big deal. It’s time to hope that the next step, whatever that may be, will work. I’m trying to stop glancing backwards, and look only toward what lays ahead. Hope = Happiness. Never let hope die.

I pray, please, please, please, let this medication work! I have enough self-esteem issues due to my stretchmarks, the last thing I needed was this hyperpigmentation. On top of that, my last doctor, Miss Harvard-grad-high-tech-$-monger, completely misdiagnosed my condition. Recently, I finally resumed my interest in improving my looks and found another doctor. She is much more open to different possibilities of conditions and treatments, rather than just jumping to the conclusion of a rare disease and an invasive procedure. Experience seems to matter much more than academic background. And, in the field of medicine, open-mindedness and a careful, step-by-step methodology is key.
Well, I REALLY pray that this new treatment works and frees me of this tiresome worry and embarrassment. Hopefully, it will boost my extremely low (so low, it has to be below the 0-mark) confidence level. I hope I have a positive entry after 10 days of treatment and a month of desirable results! HOPE is a great companion.

I have bumps on the back of my arms and on the tops of my legs. I read in a magaziene article that these are not zits, they are buildups of keratin that isn’t sloughing off the way it should be. Apparently, lot;s of women have this problem. The article suggested using a lotion with lactic acid in it (which is an alpha hydroxy acid). It specifically named AmLactin, which you can find at drugstores. It’s a bit pricey, but I bought some. I’ve been using it for a little over a week, but haven’t seen a lot of improvement as of yet. Maybe it takes a while.

    Oh boy 3 years ago

I don’t really think highly of tanning beds, but I was tired of being white and this place was offering a free tan, so I thought hey, what the hell, it might help my skin out a bit. The experience wasn’t as relaxing as I’d hoped. I FELT like I was doing something not so good for me, but I thought once would do no harm. So here I am, in the eve after my first fake bake and I’m mostly fine… except for my poor, cherry red, butt cheeks! Boy does it hurt!! Hope this goes away. The receptionist said that redness doesn’t last as much as a burn from the sun. Don’t really get that, but hope it’s true. And who knows, maybe it will end up giving my skin a boost. We shall see.

Maybe I'll have good ideas soon 4 years ago

Besides using crappy OTC products, my only plan right now is to secure a better insurance plan and get to a dermatologist. I don’t have really bad skin, just some annoying problem areas that I KNOW they must be able to fix. Top of the list are the backs of my arms, the area right above my knees, my bikini area, and under my eyes. I’ve already taken a step in the bikini area by getting laser hair removal. Even though it didn’t get 100% (I may go for more), it definately makes this area smoother and less prone to irritation. What are your problem areas and ideas?
