set up a functional home studio

After a nice Father’s Day, I came home and set everything up. The mics are in place, the gear is plugged in, and everything has been tested. The software is installed, and a short test recording has been made. I’ve got a session Friday with my roommate to try something duo to get things rolling, but it’s all working like a champ thus far. I’ll post photos soon, but for now, I’m excited just to get something crossed of my list. First task completed – 42 to go!

1. Hook up everything

2. Load Firebox driver on PC

3. Load other audio software on PC (Acid, Vegas, Sound Forge)

4. Test

1. Firewire cable to connect Firebox to PC

2. 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch – 2 sets, Mixer to Firebox, Firebox to Mixer

3. AKG Perception 100 – already have one, need a solid pair

now to set it all up

i need to get ahold of bryan. it’s either that, or shell out $1000 for logic. and considering that clear channel is holding out on me, that’s not happening anytime soon.

4. learn from modern recording techniques as i go
5. acquire mics and reference speakers
