 "We adopted a 10 year old girl from foster care!"
How I did it: I took a free class offered by the state of florida. It was 10 weeks long and sooo informitive! They came out and checked my home for hazards (aka, homestudy). They started offering us children...instantly. We made it clear that we wanted a girl about 8 years old (we had already experienced the baby thing many times). Within 1 month of finishing the classes, we had a child identified for us and after a very brief familiarizing period, she moved in. What a blessing!! Lessons & tips: Do not allow fear or procrastination stop you! Just sign up for your class, thats the hardest part! BTW, you'll love the class. It is amazing how fast the whole process is...and YES there are small children in the foster system, jsut not as many as older children. Adopting as a single mom

For the longest time I haven’t even been sure if I wanted to have children. To be honest, the thought of it still scares me a little. (Not to mention, I have no man in sight to start a family with.) Even so, I’ve always seen myself with just one child, I am an only child myself, and that would be a daughter.
In Sweden you are not allowed to adopt children as a single parent, with one exception: Chinese girls. To me, this brings togehter a lot of good things since I would truly help a vulnerable child in need of love and caring. I cannot imagine anything more fulfilling.

Once I get out of college, I am adopting a teenage daughter. I want to give someone a second chance. Toddlers love me, and I love them back, but they get annoying. Teenagers are fun. Makeup, music, thelist goes on….

I’ve always wanted to adopt a girl from either Korea, Taiwan or China. I once saw on TV some documentary about how Asian orphanages were overflowing because people didn’t want their girls, they only wanted boys. I thought it was particularly sad that it could happen and is probably still happening today.
