Actually, it was very easy. Just one cable that I didn’t connect tight enough. It’s working beautifully! I’m so proud that I managed to do this by myself, though it took long enough!
I spent yesterday afternoon replacing the motherboard. Now, when I hit the power button, the fan goes on for about 3 seconds, the LEDs light up appropriately, and then suddenly it shuts down!! I did something wrong. Perhaps the BIOS?? I’m confused.
okay, finally got ordered a motherboard off of Ebay! Now I need to learn how to install the thing…
It seems the damage is more extensive than I thought. I’ll have to purchase a new motherboard!!
I’m nervous about doing this. I think I know what the problem is—the power jack is loose.
Well actually, while I was trying to find a link that describes the problem, I found a guy who will actually do the repair for pretty cheap. He lives in Houston, and as luck would have it, I’m travelling to Houston in a couple of weeks! Hopefully this will work out terrific.
