I made the box for this today… it’s the box that our portable phone came in, but I covered it with my notes from this year.
I don’t know what I’ll put in it, yet :3 That can be for tomorrow.

CallMeHeather is just a pirate
It’s been on my mind but I just haven’t acted upon it yet. To help me get it over with I think I must…
1. Pick a location for the capsule
2. Find envelopes/paper to carry with me and ask friends to write a message for the future.
3. Get off my butt and get it done!
Well, my birthday will be in 2 weeks and a half and will be the day I’ll close my time capsule. I think it’s time to ask for the friends’ letters, so they can arrive in time.
Hey, 43T friends, if you want to send some letter to my 30-year-self, please, ask my address in this entry or private message.
(If you send me something to read in this birthday, send the future letter in another envelop.)
I’ll be very happy with your participation! :)
I will make my time capsule on the last day of grade 11, and open it on the last day of grade 12.
The last day of grade 11 is approaching. I’ve learned a lot this year, like every year.
Excitement, excitement.
Elusive Sleuth time to mix it up
I decided a few days ago, that I really want to make a time capsule to capture the zeitgiest, especially because this year is my gap year, between school and university, and there has been so much happening. I’ve been keeping a journal since the beginning of March because I missed out on a 2009 diary. I’ve brought a diary each year for the last three years to keep track of what I did in that time. This year i’ve been using my journal to keep track of my thoughts, attitudes, opinions, ideas and how they are changing through out the year.
I thought it would be a fun idea to put my journal in a time capsule when i’ve finsihed it, as well as some other things from 2009, so far i’ve thought of including photos of what I get up to,I’ll be able to include bits and pieces from what I did, or even just what I wanted to do at the time, so I can track how my “wants” change.
Photos, newspaper articles, financial situation, current opinions and attitudes, supermarket receipts, bits of pieces of things that capture how 2009 was for me.
If anyone has ideas of what I should include, or something that you would like me to include, please share :)
Oh, and I think I should bury it, my family owns a large area, so there is plenty to choose from, just need to find a good spot. Not too remote, so I don’t lose it, but not too close by. I’ll be on the look out next time I go for a walk :)
I think this is a really cool idea. I want to create a time capsule for myself to open in five years…
I wouldn’t be able to bury it or anything, because I move so much; I would probably just store it way in the back of my closet and not touch it unless I was moving again…
Anyone have any suggestions of what I should put in it?
I’m thinking one of my favorite t-shirts, some pictures, maybe some small knickknacks I’ve accumulated, a music CD, and a letter to myself… Maybe some recent newspaper clippings of interest.
- The relatory of my saving accounts situation (and check if I kept them during the years or how I spent it)
- The price of some stuff, such as gasoline, bus, Big Mac, dolar, euro, bread, beer, cinema, acarajé…
- Get some dear people’s letter as a birthday gift to my future-self
- My 43T list (Carm ’s suggestion)
I’m with the goal “write a letter to myself that I’ll open in 5 years” and thought about not do just a letter, but a box with the memories of my 25th year. I think it will be a good message to my 30-year-self, I will probably have many strange thoughts about life and the time passing fast.
I’d like to get some ideas, get some tips, about what I can put at this box. It can be things about my recent days, my recent thoughts, my plans. But it is not just about my personal life, but the recent world, the recent facts…
My list:
- A letter to myself about how I’m now, my plans to my future and everything I have in mind
- The newspaper of the day (June, 15th)
- A cd with the songs I’m listening in the last days and the songs in the parade
- Some pictures about the things I did in this day (at work, at college and celebrating with friends and family). About this, I’m thinking about take analogic pictures and develop the filme when I open the box again, so it will be a big surprise to my future-self.
- Something to remember my celebration (maybe the candle I used in my cake)
Does someone have any other idea?
(I know, it’s not a real time capsule…)

This is such a cool idea. I would love so much to save pieces of my life. I have a memory box, but turning it to a time capsule will make looking at memories worth while because I won’t see them for a bit of time.
Actually, scratch the memory box, I can make my own memories for this year. I don’t even know, but I’ll figure it out.
