I had the same experience as Lindsey, we were one of the last few in line to meet him after his show at Massey Hall in Toronto in July 2007, but he was still friendly and sweet as could be. And still made the funny face in the pic I got with him. :D
Great show too. Weird Al rules – he’s a genius in France! :)
I finally met him this year after a show at The Palace Theatre in Albany. I was the absolute last in line, and despite him being absolutely exhausted he stuck around. He was super sweet, still had enough energy to make a silly face when I had my picture taken with him, and it was nice saying hi. I cannot say the same about other musicians I have yet! I’d be happy to cross paths with him again.
I met him in 2003 when he was on his poodle hat tour. We drove 300km to get there, then waited 1 1/2 after the concert to see him. His manager came down and was so rude, saying “one autograph per person, no stories, please dont hold him up, he doesnt care about your life”. We were shattered, until weird al himself came down and spent stacks of time with us, signing everything we had and talking to us for a bit. he was so sweet, his manager, however, was a dick.
We waited with other fans for him after a 2003 concert at the old Westbury Music Fair. They had us come in groups of 10 between the tour buses and to meet and greet in a little tent area. I got his autograph and told his “Congrats on becoming a dad!”. He was really nice and his eyes like lit up! He’s very warm to his fans.
