Snacks and reading material make up my grab and go. In addition to a hard copy of the week’s activities. I will have to pack it nightly to be effective. This is a great money saver and health strategy for me. Seems my kids are always, ALWAYS hungry. Sneaking something healthy in while we are on the road is a major plus. 5 years ago

I had raised this goal to much too idealistic standards—some sort of skookum luggage filled with every possible necessity, matching outfits and art kits.
It just took me 5 minutes to walk through the house and fill up a cloth grocery bag with some spare food and clothes, books, trash bags, wet wipes, juice boxes. A few things I didn’t have like spare hairbrush and crayons I just put on my next action list. Something is always better than nothing! 5 years ago

not to do this. No matter how old my kids are. I did it when they were little and I need to do it again. I would save so much money. 5 years ago

I always had a ready diaper bag with snacks and wipes and all the stuff that would come in handy. That got ditched a while a go. I did have a pretty good kit in the car, but it got stolen. Someone probably thought it was a gym bag and was looking for an Ipod. What a disappointment.
Here’s my starter list:
- Small duffel bag
- Plastic bags for wet clothes
- change of clothes for each child
- Wet wipes
- Juice boxes
- Crackers or something that won’t go bad
- An old towel
- hair brush and some elastics
- Crayons, colouring books
- Books to read to them when we’re stuck waiting somewhere
- bottled water
That’s just off the top of my head. Suggestions welcome! 5 years ago
