How I did it: well i wanted to try it out for a while, and a few months/years? a friend sort of reminded me of the goal and recommended that i go to the commuinity center, and i did. and i was surprised! i thought it was going to be a bunch of silly poses, nothing too serious, but it was actually realllly hard for me! i couldn't hold myself up, but at the same time it was peaceful to be in my own mind and being aware of my body and just taking ti… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Mi querido amigo Carlos, me hizo una clase particular de Yoga. Y fue terrible, sobre todo después. Me dolía la espalda y el cuerpo en general, mucho. Creo que mi cuerpo no estaba preparado para eso... tal vez algo más leve, como principiante...Ahora intentaré Tai Chi. Read how I did it…

did yoga two days in a row, early in the morning before anyone else was up. I feel soooo goooooood

I really like this point-counterpoint between running and yoga. I run four days a week, do yoga for two, and rest on Sundays.
Today’s session was the falling routine from a Rodney Yee book I’ve got. The perfectionist part of me wants to dive into the Iyengar book I’ve got, read it all, and do the multi-year progression of poses it’s got in the back, but yet, the Yee is winning me over. He’s just so accessible.
Note to self: those pants I wore today don’t work when attempting tree pose, so get rid of them!

I did yoga again today, and it was a good session. Until I learn the poses by memory, I will have to consult the book as I go, which means that any smoothness and flow I achieve will have to be in getting into a pose and in coming out of it. That works for me.

Did some yoga last night… I’m not very flexible. Patience. will do more today.

I rearranged some furniture this weekend so I would have a dedicated space in which to do yoga, and today, I finally “got around to it”. I really need to slay an argument that’s running in my head, that I don’t have time to do yoga like I want to do it – what with everything I do, the hour or so I spend on the mat is just too long – but that’s nonsense. I used to spend more than 3 hours a day smoking cigarettes! Now that really is nonsense. Live and learn.
Since my last entry, I have given up coffee, and that served to shake me out of the routine I had settled into. I have also started running again. While it is good to recognize your limitations, I still ascribe to the idea that when you make changes, you may as well make multiple, coordinated, smart changes – many changes – and see how all the new pieces fit together. So far, I like the no-coffee/running bit, but I feel a little like a sponge being squeezed, and all this emotion needs to go somewhere; thus, the yoga. If I can keep on track, I will do yoga at home on Tuesdays and Fridays, run on M W Th Sa, and rest on Sundays. The weeks I reduce my running mileage (once every 4 or 5 weeks), I will do a yoga class as a drop-in at the studio in my old town – I’ve really been missing those classes.
I think it’s time to get this going. Here’s to a truly yoga-practicing, future me.

Just went to my first class! umm…. well… I didn’t know a lot of the vocab and I’m not flexible and I’m really immature and giggly so that made the class HILARIOUS to me and my friends as we sat in the very back of the class. Too bad it wasn’t supposed to be funny lol.
I think I’m going back tomorrow!
Today was my first yoga class (my boyfriend bailed out on them, but I don’t think he would have liked them, anyway). I was nervous because I thought I’d signed up for beginner’s yoga – turns out I took intermediate. :-x Oops.
I was a little bit behind the rest of the class because I wasn’t as familiar with all of the poses, but I’m catching on just fine. I’m actually a lot more flexible than I thought – there were only maybe two or three positions that I had to modify. Still, I was shaky on a lot of things, and I really need to strengthen my core and improve my balance. Yoga is definitely hard, but I trust it will whip me into shape if I am a diligent student. Does anybody know how often one should practice yoga in order to achieve notable improvement? A lot of people tell me I should do it every day, but I really don’t have that kind of time…
I left feeling completely energized and relaxed. I have nine more sessions to go. I hope there is room for a lot more growth (bothy physical and spiritual) within the next nine weeks! Yay, yoga!
Yoga has always interested me, and I find it so relaxing and sometimes challenging, which just makes me love it more! Plus I am flexible, and want to continue developing that. This is gonna be great!
