I’m not really aware of what is British and why it’s different from American. (I probably sound British :S) I say bloody hell all the time, I’d never say vacation (that’s weird) and as for sneakers… Well I can help anyone with sounding British.
People really think ‘rubbish bin’ is weird?

I have been noticing I have been doing this alot lately, mainly to describe clothing:
polo neck = turtleneck
trainers = sneakers
I’ve also been saying holiday instead of vacation and find myself saying bloody hell alot!

I think it’s fun. People look at you weird when you use it.

Many British words seem to be more concise and precise than common American words. I picked up several British words I like better than their American counterparts when I was at Oxford, but I’m still working on actually using them in place of American words. So far I’ve successfully replaced “part” (or “little”, depending on usage) with “bit” in my vocabulary. Next: replacing “thanks” with “cheers”.
