Sit at an outdoor table in Verona

on the company dime! (My part, anyway) So romantic. We’ve been so fortunate to be able to travel so much.

and we were sitting at one of the outdoor cafes next to the amphitheatre. Ahhh, indeed. We ate a leisurely lunch, sipped our tea, watched the Veronese (and the Brits and the Germans and the other Italians) slip by with their tots and frisbees, enjoying the sunny day. Outside the amphitheatre were several oversized Egyptian obelisks, no doubt to be used later for the staging of Aida. If we got tired of watching the passersby, we could always stare at the Sphinx. Could anything be more like heaven?

An Italian dream: to sit at an outdoor cafe in Verona and have tea, or wine. The cafe has to be next to the outdoor amphitheatre, one of the best remaining in all of Europe. Ahhh…
