...some of the places we’d like to visit on mymaps and started talking about whens/hows. The plan is really still in the early days and (as with some of my other goals) it will be dependant on finances.
I was starting to feel quite excited about the whole idea when I realised we do have an issue with the dog. I really wouldn’t want to leave him for more than a week or so and that just is not enough time.
I’m going to sit on the for a bit and ponder possibilities for making it work but if it’s not do-able in the next 10 years it may have to go onto my bucket list.

...take the kids 6 week summer holiday off work one year (when they’re all old enough to appreciate it) and hire a car and just drive. I want to figure what is realistic to achieve in that length of time and still enjoy without being too manic!
I daren’t even start thinking about the cost on this one. Can someone recommend a decent motel chain/car hire company so I can start pricing up?!

One day....

...there are so many places I want to go! It will take time to save up the money but perhaps when the children leave school hubby and I could take some time out of work fly out and begin our journey.
I’m not sure where I would start but I think the first step is to mark on a map all the places we want to see and then plan a route and how long we want to stay at each location.
I have browsed a few road trip planner websites and have lots more time to work it all out!

but I just realized to do this right, I’d have to to start at one end and end at the other. And since I live in the middle, that means I’d have to drive there, all the way across, and then all the way back.
So in other words, in order to do this right, I’d have to do it twice.

that one girl knows that all big changes are made one small decision at a time!
3,000 miles x 25mpg = 120 gallons of gas x $3.80 a gallon $456 in gas one way x 2 ways = $912.00 in gas alone.

the night before last i was sitting in bed watching tv and decided i would whip out an old scrapbook from 2005. I even read what i had journaled with each page. I had journaled my agrivation that i had to drive from my house to the racetrack in milan michingan, oh maybe a 45 minute drive, and gas was two dollars and change. i had mentioned what a waste it was that i was going alone, due to a scheduling issue, but the gas thing cracked me up!! I think it will be a long time, or one big lottery before i have the oppertunity to spend this much (enough to get to cali and back)money on gas.
