K~ carpe diem
To take a picture of me wearing that bright red scarf failed. It’s a bit airy on the bike though. ;-) But still nice to wear (and great to hear Andrea admiring it – she’ll get a smaller version for christmas).
How I did it: I have acquired more yarn than I know what to do with so I looked up patterns online and found one that I liked. Throughout one weekend, I would pick up my project from time to time and work on it for 30 minutes to an hour. Also, while I was waiting for my roommate to get settled into bed at night, I would crochet to help pass the time.
Resources: Red Heart Super Savers yarn, google.

It’s almost done!
I’ve added this goal and almost immediately started to crochet it. It was fun with some music, the kids playing and watching from time to time. I only had to crochet another half hour the next day and it was done. Just like that!
Now some loose ends have to be woven in (which I don’t like doing…) and it’s really finished.
I can do it a little. I have a book of granny squares with instructions so I’d like to make a scarf of yarn remnants that’s all difference granny squares sewn together like patchwork

I’ve made five scarves recently. They’ll be Christmas presents for people. Most were rather simple sc stitch and made with fuzzy, sparkly eyelash yarn, but I also learned how to do a shell stitch and made a couple really pretty scarves with that. I’m probably going to make 2 or 3 more before Christmas, if I have time, as all my friends seem to want one. :)

I got myself some black wool with gold metallic thread running through it and I have already done about 10 inches of my scarf :) I’m doing treble stitch for the most part, but every other row, holes are created at 3 chain intervals by missing one out. A fairly simple pattern, but then it’s been a long time since I’ve done any crochet and I only ever learnt the very basics :)
I’m already working on my second one. The first one turned out okay, but not as nice as I would have liked. I think I’ve learned some things along the way and hopefully I can get some new tricks to help improve my crocheting skills. I like knowing I can make things like this.
I asked my friend to teach me to crochet last week, and she helped me get started when she came to visit this past weekend. I’m about halfway done with my first scarf, which is going to be a gift for someone’s birthday later this month. I’m really excited about it, and I’m getting a little hooked on it too!
But I am all done with my very first scarf. I gave it to the person I made it for and it seemed like he liked it. I have already started another one for myself, and after that I am going to make some for Christmas presents. Crocheting is a lot of fun and surprising relaxing. Also, if you do it on your breaks at work it keeps the annoying people away. :)
