The 7yr old has to read 15min a night for school, so I pulled the unfinished poem book up on the computer screen for her to read. She read “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” for me – and did a great job. When she got to the end and recognized the last paragraph she had a huge smile and gave me a great look. It gave me a good feel for what poems should be in the book. Going to remove some of the longer ones, or move them to the back, in favor of shorter ones that she can understand and read.

Found a few poems online and dropped them into a google doc:

Asked my sister for some recommendations and she sent me “Ithica.”

We’ve got a couple books we read the kids that rhyme – and it’s just painful sometime to read to them. So I want to collect a few really good poems to read each night.
Initially I’ve got “Whose woods these are…”, “A tree”, “The Jabberwocky”
